Chapter 137: Florges vs. Milotic

Chapter 137: Florges vs. Milotic

After an intense exchange, neither Pokémon emerged as the clear victor.

"It seems you've made significant progress during this time. Your Florges can actually hold its own against my Milotic," Robert remarked.

Robert hadn't expected Yuga to improve so rapidly in just a few months. It was only a matter of time before Yuga caught up to him.

"Of course, absence makes the heart grow fonder, and now you can truly see my growth! Today's me is not the same as yesterday's!" Yuga replied confidently.

In truth, Yuga was aware that there was still a gap in strength between Florges and Milotic. While their levels were close, with Milotic at level 32 and Florges at level 33, the difference in potential created a distance between them.

However, Florges had her own advantages. Utilizing the move "Safeguard" to change her type to Grass, she would surely take the initiative against Milotic.

"No more talking, Florges, use Magical Leaf!"

Dozens of sharp leaf blades formed by the swirling green leaves mercilessly sliced toward Milotic.

"Milotic! Dragon Tail!"

A green glow enveloped Milotic's beautiful fan-like tail, and with a sweeping motion, it deflected each and every Magical Leaf.

With the elimination of the Magical Leaves, Milotic immediately retaliated. Its slender and graceful body glided along the beach, swiftly closing in on Florges.

Milotic's speed was astonishing, catching Yuga off guard as it approached Florges.

Just as Milotic was about to reach Florges, its majestic dragon tail poised to strike, Yuga suddenly remembered a long-forgotten move that Florges possessed.

"Florges, Flower Shield!"

This move instantly took effect on Florges, who had already transformed into a Grass-type Pokémon.

Countless vibrant, multicolored flower illusions materialized around Florges, creating a splendid display. With the flower illusions surrounding her, Florges now appeared as if she were a graceful flower queen.

When Milotic's Dragon Tail was about to strike Florges, the clustered flower barrier blocked its path.

Although Florges undoubtedly sustained damage, Flower Shield increased her defense. As a result, Florges, even though wounded by the Dragon Tail attack, gritted her teeth and endured.

Furthermore, the Grassy Terrain had a minor healing effect, as streams of green light slowly flowed into Florges's body, gradually mending her wounds.

In pain, Florges furiously swung her vines, binding the nearly approaching Milotic tightly, then flung it away. Following this, she unleashed Magical Leaf in a relentless barrage toward Milotic.

Magical Leaves not only hit Milotic but also stirred up countless sand particles on the beach.

When all the sand particles settled, Milotic revealed its heavily marked body from the impact of the Magical Leaves. As a Water-type Pokémon, being struck by Grass-type moves like Magical Leaf had inflicted significant damage on Milotic.

"Milotic, use Recover!"

Hearing Robert's voice, Yuga thought to himself, "Here it comes, that annoying move."

Milotic's body was instantly enveloped in a milky-white glow. After the glow dissipated, the damage from Florges's Magical Leaf was completely nullified.

While Recover was indeed a useful move, it was also quite frustrating.

"Your move is really tricky. How can we even fight like this?" Yuga shrugged his shoulders helplessly.

Robert chuckled and replied, "Well, it all depends on your skills."

"Milotic, use Ice Beam!"

Since Milotic's close-up approach hadn't yielded favorable results against Florges, Robert gave up on that strategy and opted for the highly effective Ice-type move.

"Florges, use Magical Leaf!"

As before, the Magical Leaves were frozen into ice by the Ice Beam, while the Ice Beam itself dissipated upon contact with the Magical Leaves.

Yuga's eyes flickered as he realized that the current situation could go on indefinitely. He needed to find a way to break this deadlock, as prolonging the battle would not be advantageous for him. After all, Florges couldn't heal herself.

After a moment of contemplation, a mischievous grin crossed Yuga's face. He turned to Florges and said, "Florges, use your vines to bind Milotic's mouth!"

Though confused by Yuga's inexplicable command, Florges complied.

On the opposite side, Milotic was caught off guard by Yuga's sudden maneuver. It struggled fiercely, but its mouth and head were firmly bound by Florges's robust vines.

Milotic relied on its mouth for moves like Water Gun, Aqua Ring, Ice Beam, and Captivate. With Florges's vines constricting its mouth, Milotic was rendered helpless.

With its mouth and head immobilized, Milotic thrashed about vigorously. Milotic's size and strength allowed it to roll forcefully on the sandy terrain, stirring up a cloud of sand.

"Florges, while you can, keep using Magical Leaf!"

Wave after wave of Magical Leaves shot towards the struggling Milotic, and before long, Milotic was covered in wounds.

Robert was taken aback by Yuga's sudden tactics. After countless battles, he had never encountered such a crafty strategy.

"Milotic, use Dragon Tail to break those vines!"

Though Milotic was somewhat overwhelmed by its own emotions, upon hearing its familiar Trainer's voice, it instinctively obeyed.

Under the immense force of Milotic's Dragon Tail, Florges's vines snapped one after another, becoming lifeless branches scattered on the ground.

At this point, despite Milotic's normally gentle disposition, it was slightly agitated. Ignoring its own injuries, it leaped toward Florges with its colossal dragon tail, swiping left and right like a fan.

Fortunately, every time Milotic used Dragon Tail, Florges also countered with Flower Shield. By the time Milotic finished its attack, though Florges was battered and bruised, her defense had reached its peak.

Finding the opportune moment, Florges swung her vines and flung Milotic away once more, but she was visibly exhausted.

Both Pokémon were now running on fumes.

"I never thought you would be this cunning!" Robert exclaimed, his frustration evident.

Yuga nonchalantly responded, "How am I being cunning? Did I break any rules?"

"Well, not exactly..." It's just that you're being cunning because you didn't break any rules! Robert felt like he was about to explode, unable to comprehend the situation.

Seeing both Pokémon in their current states – the Queen of Flowers reduced to the "Queen of Ruins," and the graceful serpent now a "Tattered Snake" – Robert suggested, "Let's call it a draw for this battle. We'll have a rematch next time."

"Alright, I'll go along with that."

Deep down, Yuga knew that if the battle continued, he would eventually lose. After all, Milotic could recover, while Florges was running out of steam.
