Chapter 92
Chapter 92 - I Help You Increase Your Strength
Xu Gan's eyes instantly locked onto Ye Hao's fingers.
He observed Ye Hao rhythmically tapping on Xiaolan's pale wrist.
Xu Gan puzzled over the action. “What's he doing? Is he giving Xiaolan a massage?”
It was then that he heard Meixue's voice, filled with astonishment, “The patient's brainwaves and ECG are returning to normal levels.”
“What?” Xu Gan hastily glanced at the monitor next to Xiaolan.
The disbelief was clear in his eyes as he took in the data on the screen.
The readings indicated that the patient's condition was dramatically improving.
While it made sense for Xiaolan's health to get better, such a swift and significant recovery was unheard of.
There was no scientific basis for this, nor any historical precedent.
Having studied cases of comatose patients for nearly a decade, Xu Gan was certain this was unprecedented.
As he pondered the situation, Meixue's exclamation pierced the air again.
“The patient is awake.”
Xu Gan's attention swiftly returned to Xiaolan.
Her eyelashes fluttered gently, and then her dark eyes opened.
“Ye Hao,” Xiaolan said, her eyes lighting up with joy at the sight of him.
“How are you feeling now?”
“Much better,” she replied.
“Please, step outside,” Ye Hao instructed Xu Gan and Meixue.
“How did you manage this?” Xu Gan asked Ye Hao, his eyes ablaze with curiosity.
If Xu Gan could unravel the mystery behind this recovery, the Nobel Prize in Medicine could be within his grasp.
“I need to speak with Xiaolan alone,” Ye Hao stated, his voice tinged with frost.
Sensing the chill in Ye Hao's tone, Xu Gan and Meixue exchanged a glance and exited the room.
Xiaolan's vital signs had stabilized.
In other words, the risk of her falling into a coma again was now nonexistent.
There was no longer any need for Xu Gan and Meixue to remain.
“Tell me about your assault,” Ye Hao prompted.
After a moment's hesitation, Xiaolan recounted the events from two days prior.
“The methods of those from Yama are truly frightening,” she said.
“The only reason for Yama's people to attack with such ferocity is if they've been promised a substantial reward by their employer.”
“Do you think Yama's people might come here?”
“It's highly unlikely,” Xiaolan replied, shaking her head. “The security system here is robust, and every patient is assigned a bodyguard. If Yama's people dared to intrude, their chances of escaping would be slim.”
“Why was the girl from Yama able to leave last time?” Ye Hao was aware that the Yama member who had posed as a nurse managed to escape safely.
“A guard was heavily bribed by her.”
“That suggests there's a serious flaw in the sanatorium's security system.”
“Indeed. Otherwise, they wouldn't have gone to the trouble of overhauling the entire system.”
Ye Hao shifted the conversation, “Your strength seems somewhat lacking.”
“I've reached seven-star status. Am I still considered weak?”
“Do you believe your strength is sufficient?”
“Fine, my strength isn't great.”
“I can help you enhance your strength, but you must keep it confidential.”
“What?”
“I can elevate you to nine-star within a month.”
Disbelief washed over Xiaolan's face.
“Don't you want my assistance?”
“I do want your help.”
“However, you must remember not to disclose this to anyone, not even your closest kin or mentors,” Ye Hao stated earnestly.
“I understand,” Xiaolan replied.
She was aware that if the secret got out, it could spell disaster for Ye Hao.
What Xiaolan failed to grasp was that Ye Hao's concern wasn't about the potential catastrophe from a leaked secret; he simply wished to avoid further bloodshed.
Lan Zhongtian was a case in point.
After Lan Zhongtian revealed Ye Hao's information, Bai Ruo attempted to assassinate him.
As Ye Hao's cultivation progressed, his power grew exponentially. Even if an elder from a martial arts sect came after him, he wouldn't flinch. In time, Ye Hao was confident that no one within the sects could hold him back.
Ye Hao's rate of cultivation was unmatched by any cultivator from the Way of Nature.
The Dragon Orb within Ye Hao continuously exuded a stream of essence, accelerating his cultivation pace to several times that of an average cultivator. Furthermore, Ye Hao was now using copious amounts of spirit stones to hasten his progress.
With a mere thought, Ye Hao summoned a spirit stone from his Cosmos Bag.
Still, he made a show of pulling it out as if from his pocket.
“What's this?” Xiaolan asked, taking the spirit stone with a mix of curiosity and wonder.
“Hold onto the stone and run your cultivation technique,” Ye Hao instructed gently.
Xiaolan followed Ye Hao's instructions. Moments later, her eyes widened in disbelief as a vast, gentle stream of pure energy emanated from the stone, visibly accelerating her cultivation.
“What is this?”
“Don't concern yourself with that. Just focus on cultivating,” Ye Hao said, standing up. “I'm leaving now.”
“Thank you,” Xiaolan responded gravely.
“I hope that once your cultivation is advanced, you'll continue to protect Sister Rou'er.”
Xiaolan paused, realization dawning on her. Ye Hao had given her the spirit stone for Lin Rou'er's sake.
“I will,” Xiaolan affirmed with conviction.
Under normal circumstances, once Xiaolan reached nine-star status, she would be expected to return to her martial arts sect to concentrate on advancing to the Innate Realm. Moreover, Lin Rou'er's status hardly warranted the protection of a nine-star expert.
After Ye Hao departed, a thought struck Xiaolan. His cultivation level! She had previously pegged Ye Hao as an eight-star cultivator, but now she suspected he was at least nine-star.
While Ye Hao was changing, a black-clad bodyguard burst in.
“You're Ye Hao, aren't you?”
“Who's asking?”
“Come with me.”
“And why should I?” Ye Hao's face hardened with seriousness. The bodyguard's tone was far too presumptuous.
“You ask too many questions.” Impatience flickered across the bodyguard's face before he reached for Ye Hao's shoulder.
Ye Hao's eyes flashed dangerously. As the bodyguard's hand landed, Ye Hao swiftly grasped his three fingers, maneuvered behind him, and delivered a sharp kick to the back of his knee. The bodyguard stumbled and fell to one knee, his fingers throbbing with intense pain.
“Release me,” the bodyguard bellowed.
Holding firm, Ye Hao replied, “If I were to comply with your demand, that would be quite embarrassing for me.”
“Do you have any idea who I am?”
“What, aren't you just a bodyguard?” Ye Hao retorted coldly.
Ye Hao had cleverly cornered the bodyguard with his words, ensuring the man couldn't invoke his employer's name without insulting himself, effectively likening himself to a mere hound.
“This is all a misunderstanding,” a middle-aged man in a suit said as he rushed over in haste.
Ye Hao spoke calmly, “This gentleman seems intent on using force to take me with him.”
