Chapter 5 - I, Wu Chi, Fear Nothing
Chapter 5: I, Wu Chi, Fear Nothing
Mist swirled within the hall.
The stunning woman in red hovered barefoot above the ground, her icy expression exuding an invisible pressure.
The students didn’t dare to breathe loudly, listening intently.
“…Take your rewards!”
She raised her hand, scattering streams of light.
The streams transformed into countless points of light that spread across the hall in an instant.
The next moment,
A point of light appeared before each student.
The points grew larger, eventually forming glowing spheres.
Pop!
The light dissipated,
Revealing several items within.
There were finger-sized building models: a [Altar] and a [Barracks].
Additionally, there were ten fingernail-sized black crystals!
“Territory buildings and Void Crystals!”
Wu Chi’s eyes gleamed as he waved his hand, collecting everything into his inventory.
These rewards followed the national standard for new Lords—identical for everyone.
“First…”
The woman in red spoke again, her cold voice resonating deeply, stirring faint ripples in the hearts of those present.
“Congratulations on becoming Lords and officially stepping into this era!”
This blessing eased the tension in the room. The students exhaled collectively, their faces lighting up with well-deserved excitement.
In the Era of Universal Lords, only by becoming a Lord could one truly savor the flavor of this grand age!
“I believe you’ve already learned enough in school. However, to avoid accidents, let me remind you of two things!”
“New Lords are in a trial period during their first month. It will be dangerous. If you can’t hold on, leave the Void immediately!”
“Remember, do not take unnecessary risks!”
“But if you’re confident, this first month is also a golden opportunity for you to leap ahead!”
“Everyone here comes from ordinary families. I trust you understand how important opportunities are.”
The woman’s tone was indifferent as she spoke about the trials awaiting the newcomers.
Every Lord underwent a trial period.
Upon their first descent, they entered a 30-day Void Trial.
During those 30 days,
They could only bring up to two territory buildings and a limited amount of resources!
If they successfully endured the trial, the Void would evaluate them and grant rewards accordingly.
For the children of gods or immortals, these rewards were merely icing on the cake. Nice to have, but not essential.
For those from ordinary families, however, it was a chance to soar!
…
“Indeed, this is a perfect opportunity for ordinary people to transform. I can’t afford to miss it!”
“The trial period is too dangerous. I think I’ll play it safe…”
“The endless waves of Void monsters? Surviving the first wave is hard enough—it’s not a joke!”
“Resource management is critical. The teachers emphasized that once you make it through the initial stages, collecting enough Void Crystals and utilizing the altar and barracks properly will enable sustainable growth. It’ll get stronger over time!”
“Honestly, with good luck, 30 days isn’t that hard.”
“The challenge lies in performance and evaluation.”
The students began discussing fervently.
Some were filled with excitement, their ambitions and fighting spirits evident on their faces.
Some hesitated, fear evident in their expressions, unwilling to take risks.
Others were indifferent, adopting a “whatever happens, happens” attitude.
Most of those present came from ordinary families.
Wealthier families typically didn’t bother collecting the state-provided rewards, opting instead to purchase superior buildings!
Of course, due to resource limitations, those who skipped this step couldn’t start with high-level structures either—at best, they could afford some rare-level Level 1 buildings.
Even so, their starting point was leagues ahead of the average person.
Observing the varied attitudes around him, Wu Chi smirked.
“The poor fear the rich, the rich fear geniuses. And geniuses…”
“Fear those with cheats!”
As for Wu Chi? He feared nothing!
“Silence!”
The woman in red spoke again. Her pleasant voice wasn’t loud but carried a mysterious power that silenced the hall instantly.
She hesitated for a moment, as if debating whether to speak further.
After a long pause, she waved her hand dismissively.
“If you possess a decent territory trait, consider checking the investment contracts outside the hall.”
With that, the woman dissolved into mist and disappeared, leaving the students behind.
The moment she left, the students began whispering, their expressions complex.
“Is the principal endorsing investment proposals now?”
“I remember she used to oppose students interacting with external investments!”
“Haven’t you heard? Last year, some parents took her to court!”
“Blocking their profits is akin to a life-and-death feud. Those parents didn’t care about their children’s futures.”
“That’s not entirely fair. Having investors means that even if they become vassal Lords in the future, it’s better than being mediocre.”
The students murmured among themselves as they gradually left the hall.
Wu Chi also stepped out. As he exited, he glanced at a panel mounted by the door.
The panel displayed numerous investment contracts!
