The Supreme Level Up System

Chapter 87 Trump Card

While he was running, Aion saw the path of destruction created by the enemy. It looked like a giant monster had dragged its tail… in any case, the enemy could afford to attack like that because he assumed that his defense was perfect. Since the shadow armor could stop wounds and stop Caelis from feeling pain, it probably could prevent him from suffering from dizziness… so he could stay like that for as long as he wanted.

"It would be a pretty good way to defeat a lot of enemies without using mana… come to think of it, Horis also could use his weird power without worrying about costs…" Aion thought.

Aion had to face the enemy, and against that momentum in that situation, he couldn't stop it with brute strength alone. Still, he turned around and readied his spear… when the enemy finally got close enough, he began to stab the massive sphere of dark spikes. He was so fast that the other guys couldn't even see Aion's arms moving…

Despite that, Aion began to be pushed backward with each of his thrusts… the enemy charge was that much more powerful. However, at the same time, the enemy was unable to hit him…

"Annoying little worm…" Caelis thought.

Even against such a technique… it was the first time someone managed to stop that attack, so it was only natural that Caelis would get pissed. Still, he knew that it was only a matter of time before Aion's weapon could break. He just needed to wait for that… Caelis waited and waited, but he only realized that such a thing wasn't going to happen when he began to feel some pain in his body.

At first, the pain could only be compared to the bite of a mosquito, but then they began to grow more powerful until Caelis realized the shocking truth… Aion's spear was piercing his shadow armor. When Aion finally felt some softness on his attack, he took his time to attack with all his might, and then in the next moment, Caelis stopped rolling when he felt a sharp pain in his right shoulder.

Aion took a good look at the enemy… the armor had thickened out more than a little bit, and in some parts, he could see the enemy's body. It wasn't, but such an ability had no weakness… it couldn't sustain the largest amounts of damage, and Caelis never realized that because he had never suffered that much damage before.

On the other hand, Aion's arms were hurting a bit, and he used a good amount of stamina. So, he was taking his time to recover… The strategy to have high attack power and speed was working until now, but since Aion's endurance was low, he couldn't keep attacking forever. The more he attacks nonstop, the more he gets tired, and his muscles suffer damage. Aion could use his coins to increase his endurance, but he decided to do that only later… if necessary.

In the end, by making the armor even thinner, Caelis managed to cover his whole body, but he was aware that such a thing comes with its weakness… he disliked using his spear, even more so against someone that was essentially a kid. However, he couldn't care about his pride anymore since he didn't land a single decent hit.

Aion kept looking at the enemy when he grabbed his spear and inclined his body forward alongside his left leg. That was a mainly offensive posture while holding the spear with both hands, but with the body and weapon enhanced by the shadow, Aion knew that Caelis could be fast enough to assume any other stance…

Once again, Caelis was the first one to charge and thrust his spear at Aion's head. He parried the attack a bit to the side, but the power made the weapon pass near his right cheek, and Aion almost felt the sharp wind, almost cutting his flesh…

"Even with Block Mastery, blocking the precise thrust of a spear is difficult," Aion thought after lowering his stance when Caelis followed the attack with a swing.

Aion fixed his stance, but the enemy attacked faster by using his right leg this time. Aion got kicked in the chest and rolled on the ground several times. A single kick took thirty percent of his health, and he felt like his lungs were about to be smashed… that was the downside of that class. While Aion had high speed and even more with Quick Spear, it didn't help as much his reaction speed as as it did with his attacking speed.

Regardless, Aion got up and jumped to the side when he saw Caelis above him, ready to split his body in two. Aion dodged, and the enemy's spear hit the ground and created a path of destruction onward…

"I really need to find someone to fix my armor…" Aion thought.

Although he used it only a few times, Aion grew attached to that armor… he knew that not wearing any in such a situation would be dangerous, but he needed that much pressure on himself to improve. Regardless, now that the enemy was using his spear, it was hard to imagine him getting even stronger. Aion just needed to get used to that power and speed and then wait for his best chance.

That was his plan, but instead of attacking, he suddenly saw Caelis looking at him with a serious look… it was a bit too soon for someone like him to act like that. He wasn't the tactical type, after all. He would need to be shaken more before he tries to use his head. Aion raised his guard when he saw the enemy making the shadow move to the weapon… it seemed like it didn't have to be in contact with his body, so that only made things weird. Regardless, without approaching and out of nowhere, the enemy used a thrust attack, and the spear expanded almost instantly and almost pierced Aion's forehead…

Aion lowered his stance and dodged the attack, but the tip of the spear still cut the flesh on his forehead, and blood began to fall on his face…
