The Supreme Level Up System

Chapter 169 Pondering

Although Aion said that, he could understand a bit of what made her do that...

"Based on what we heard, she wasn't a person that aimed for power. She only wanted to protect her people and her friends," Sauros said. "She might have obtained the power to become one, but she probably found herself unworthy since she failed to protect her friends. That is just my guess, though."

"Anyway, you said that our destination is the largest kingdom, and it was built around a temple, so we will have to fight them?" Aion asked.

"If we are lucky, we might avoid the fights," Sauros said. "You can fly and use your magic in many ways, so we can avoid most problems. However, that place is always guarded, so it will be difficult."

Aion had been lucky, but he never counted on luck for anything. In any case, for the time being, he didn't have any more questions to ask, so he decided to retire to his room. He didn't have time to train that day since they were moving, so he was planning to pick up the slack.

When Aion returned to his room, he felt a bit weird since it was so well illuminated by a magic candle… while the window only showed the darkness of the night. Maybe that candle was something that they obtained from those visitors that Sauros had mentioned. Come to think of it. They should ask more about what they know regarding that and about the technology of magic items. It was annoying, but Aion didn't make much progress on the study of the runes.

All of a sudden, Aion heard a high-pitched sound outside, and the ship trembled a little. When he went to check there, he only saw the dark armor guys doing their own thing. They had around thirty men, but only five were working outside.

"That was one of the magic cannons," Seris suddenly showed up and said. "They are used automatically when a monster approaches. "

"Is that so… for a nomad group, you guys sure developed some interesting technology," Aion said.

"We saved and looked for many types of things over the years to be able to fulfill our mission," Seris said. "I am proud to say that there is no one else out there who knows more about magic Relics than us."

"Did you guys write down what you have learned?" Aion asked. "You might forget those things like many others in the past."

"It is in our base, everything we learned and found," Seris said. "In the end, while the chances are small, we have to consider the possibility that we might be attacked and lose this ship. Therefore, we can't carry everything with us."

That made sense, someday, Aion expected to see the results of their research, but it would be hard to ask them to bring him to their base. It was a secret, after all. Moreover, Aion couldn't stay there as a student for long. His territory was developing, but he would need at least three more years to create a good environment for his mother.

"Aren't you going to ask to go there someday?" Seris asked.

"That will depend on how long we are going to work together," Aion replied. "I also need to see what kind of people you guys are, so I might ignore that idea."

"So, you came without fully trusting us?" Seris asked. "Even though we gave you such a valuable magic item?"

"You said that it was to repay a debt and as far as I saw until now, you guys are taking way too lightly that your brother was taken as a prisoner and drugged," Aion said. "If that isn't weird, I don't know what is."

"I suppose that would make sense to you," Seris said. "Still, he was only caught because he made a mistake, and he recognized that. Also, our mission is more important than revenge, so we can ignore that. This world might be cruel sometimes and unfair, but we saw many times that bad people always get what they deserve in the end."

After saying that, Seris returned to her cabin. It seemed that those guys were fine in letting fate do certain things for them, but Aion couldn't be that easygoing. Still, considering their powers, it made sense that they would trust in fate… speaking of powers, Aion wondered what Seris could do with time magic. Her brother could make objects either grow old extremely fast or return to their original state, so he was expecting a lot.

The sea breeze of the night was pretty good, but looking at the horizon and only seeing darkness made Aion feel a bit uneasy. Still, the stars in the sky were quite the sight to behold. So many constellations, galaxies… Aion wondered if Earth was out there. Considering that he learned about time magic recently, it was hard to say how many years had passed since his death there.

After so many years, it felt like a waste of time to think about it. What happened there after his death was way beyond his control. Regardless, Aion returned to his cabin and then began to train his magic since there wasn't much space there. The deck of the ship was pretty large, so he could train his body and techniques in the morning.

"I was planning to travel the world, but I didn't expect it would be like this," Aion thought. "Mom won't be able to enjoy this now, but in the future, I will make sure that she will have a chance to see the world."

With those thoughts in mind, Aion trained for a while and then went to bed. However, while he got used to the shaking while standing or sitting, it took a while for him to get used to it while laying down. To avoid problems, Aion will have to exhaust himself every day. Otherwise, he will waste time failing to fall asleep.
