The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 218 Bad Dream?

Chapter 218 Bad Dream?

Two days later…

"Ethan, will you get me a glass of water, please?" Sounding weak and sweet at the same time, Lexi shamelessly demanded Ethan Lu who was busy skimming through a document on the couch inside the room. He has tons of files laid on the small table and a laptop. Lexi watched his unsmiling side profile while she was still lying on the large bed.

The moment he heard her, Ethan Lu turned to her direction. Gently smiling, he put down whatever he was doing, no matter how important it was as he stood up and accordingly strode towards the bed. Sitting on the side of the bed, Ethan Lu gently checked her forehead and was relieved that her fever had gone down.

"Love, refrain from moving too much, alright?" Although Ethan Lu was engaged with the work that he took home for the last three days, he could still see her move around the bed via his peripheral vision.

"Mhmm…" Obedient like a cute little puppy, Lexi slightly nodded her head that made his heart flutter to an unimaginable degree. Ethan Lu softly stroked her face before getting up and went out to get her a glass of water.

"Wow… where's the Lexi that I know and who is this impostor?" Rolling her eyes as she witnessed Lexi's sweet act, Churu's sarcasm overflowed as she could not recognize this woman next to her.

When he was out, Lexi abruptly sat up as if her weakness earlier were nothing but an act. "Sissy, where have you been?!" In actuality, Lexi already felt better since yesterday night. Thus, she knew that Churu just showed up now.

She would be lying if Lexi said she never thought about Churu in her absence. Moreover, while she was high in fever, she had a terrifying dream about the little dumpling dying. Reasons why she was agitated that Churu went missing in action for days… or rather, Churu seemed as if she has different priorities as she would rather go on a date than accompany her.

"I was here— on the roof." Pointing her tiny index finger upward, Churu honestly responded. Well, after she nagged the oblivious Morris Liu not to be shameless and hold onto his words that he would stay out of being an iceberg on this ship, Churu channeled to her host's location— bringing her to Ethan Lu's villa.

Churu was stunned that she arrived at the familiar place, yet she recovered immediately as Lexi accepted Ethan Lu and them being together early in the morning shouldn't surprise her. She then checked on her host and seeing that she fell ill, Churu decided to stay on top of the roof and monitor her every so often.

Arching her brows, Lexi scrutinized Churu's front for a second to confirm if she was lying or not. Upon her brief inspection and knowing that Churu could not lie, Lexi heaved a sigh of relief.

"Can you lessen following the dangerous guys?!" In spite of being filled with relief, Lexi sassed as she reprimanded the little dumpling sitting on the side of the enormous bed. "I'm your host and you should stick with me, ALWAYS!"

"Woah, chill~ Ethan might hear you~!" Startled by her sudden scolding, Churu raised both her hands to calm her down. Well, she had planned to stick with her with the remaining days she had left anyway.

"Just promise that you will always stay with me, okay?" Letting out a deep exhale, Lexi locked her eyes on the small cute white figure.

"Alright! But, there's no need for scolding."

"I had a bad dream, okay? Coincidentally, you were not around or rather, you're on the roof so can you blame me for getting worried?" Displeased as she recalled Churu vanishing, Lexi frowned as she tried to brush off that nightmare.

"Eh? It's just a dream, don't take it seriously." Giggling, Churu cheered the frustrated Lexi whose hair was messy as if it wasn't brushed for days.

"How can I not if it's you dying on me." Unappeased, Lexi grumbled as the pain of seeing the perishing Churu was too vivid.

Just then, she heard Ethan Lu's voice outside vaguely saying something to Louis Lu that made her instantly lay back on the bed and cover herself with the thin blanket as she pretended that she didn't move a muscle while he was gone.

Since Lexi's attention diverted on Ethan Lu who entered the room with a tray of peeled fruits and a glass of water, she didn't witness the change in Churu's countenance. The little dumpling remained unmoving for several seconds after hearing the dream that frustrated her host.

Ethan Lu placed the tray that has her healthy snacks before sitting on the edge of the bed. "Let me help you sit up." Tilting his head to the side, Ethan Lu became more caring and gentle as if Lexi was inflicted with an incurable disease.

"No need— it's not like I'm paralyzed." Subtly smiling, Lexi mildly shook her head sideways as she supported herself to sit up by her elbow and leaned her back against the headboard.

"Thank you," She meekly smiled as Ethan Lu handed her the food tray with a bowl of fresh fruits and a glass of water.

Glancing at Churu who was back to normal, Lexi faintly sighed once again as she had no words to tell her. In her mind, Churu was right. It was just a bad dream and it was impossible to happen, right?

Besides, how could someone like Churu die? Although she's a fallen angel, she wouldn't just leave the world right? Also, do angels, demons and whatever deity she was talking about, could they even die?

'Sissy, don't go anywhere alright?' While Lexi picked up a piece of peeled apple, she telepathically uttered without turning her gaze to her.

"Hehe, you think too much~!" Heartily laughing, there wasn't a sign of Churu being guilty as she hid her emotions very well.

'I am telling you, don't go anywhere anymore without telling me beforehand.' Pressing on the matter so Churu wouldn't forget, Lexi's heart felt restless without knowing any concrete reason why.

All she knew was that, with or without having such tragic dreams, Lexi didn't want to lose Churu; the first person or rather, a so-called demon that oddly enough believed in her despite being brutally honest.

Overall, even though Lexi gained some new friends and accepted Ethan Lu on her own accord and not because the system told her so; no one could replace or take away Churu's special throne in her heart.

This time, Churu didn't answer and only smiled back. She could not pledge a promise as she knew she could never fulfill it. To her, it might be a little selfish that she wanted to keep her nearing departure a secret.

However, at least, in that case, Lexi wouldn't have to feel bad for the next few days until it was her time to say goodbye. Knowing Lexi, she might be a little bitchy sometimes, but God knows she has a soft spot that could trigger her vulnerable cry baby persona.

Churu didn't want that. She wanted to give her some slack and only make her cry for a moment before Churu completely left this world bringing all the memories she had shared with Lexi— her one and only friend through and through.
