The Divine Wolf... or?

Chapter 19: Parting!

Ark was very surprised, he had suddenly woken up, and when he did, there was a human standing in front of him. This human looked like he had also come from Ark's old world, he could figure this out from the clothes he was wearing, he wasn't wearing any special uniform or anything, but Ark knew these kinds of clothes didn't exist in this world, or at least he thought so.

Checking around him to see where the demons had gone he noticed something, they were apparently the only people here. Ark didn't know how long he had gone to sleep, but it was still kind of weird for him to be left alone, after all the effort that they had put into getting him to come with them.

What he didn't know was that everyone else had been teleported away and that the reason they had left him behind was simply that the princess had forgotten to mention his existence to the court magicians, otherwise they would have taken him with them.

But they would probably not be able to go back already, using magic to teleport would actually cost huge amounts of Mana, and they wouldn't be able to come back in a short amount of time at all, maybe in a couple of hours, but of course, Ark didn't know this.

Ark didn't know if he was supposed to be happy or not that he wouldn't be able to explore the human society of this world as of now. At first, he was a bit disappointed, but when he thought about it a little more he felt that it might be for the better. It would be a lot safer to go to an environment with lots of people who saw him as a beast if had more strength.

He wanted o at least have the strength to escape if he really needed to. When he had thought about it he sent a questioning gaze towards Leo, why would they just leave him here?

Seeing this gaze the wolf was sending him Leo tried explaining the situation to it, he didn't really know if the wolf would actually be able to understand him, but this was another world after all, and there was magic, so why not?

"I got left behind because they said my [Class] wasn't up to par!"

Saying this Leo was really frustrated. If this was a world where strength mattered a lot, and there were magical beings like this lurking around, he wanted to have the power to protect himself. There was apparently some sort of demons that were at war with the humans as well. But this wasn't just it, Leo didn't just want to survive, he wanted to live!

He didn't want to become some normal cannon fodder that would just instantly die during an invasion, he didn't want to live a life of mediocrity, he wanted to become someone!

Hearing this Ark realized part of the situation, even though he was still very confused. Why had there been people from his old world also getting summoned to this world? And how did this happen? If you could bring people from his own world to this one, then could he go back?

The last question wasn't that important to Ark though, he would rather live in this world here where he would be able to become someone disregarding of social status. And he was still a wolf, so what would he do in his original world, live in a zoo? He wouldn't be able to show his powers there either as they would either put him down or try and capture him to do experiments on him.

Realizing that this young man in front of him had no way to protect himself Ark decided to try and guide him to the nearest town, so he wouldn't perish out here in the woods. When Ark had just risen from the ground he realized that something was undoubtedly off. He thought that everything looked smaller in comparison to before.

What he also realized when he looked at Leo was that he was forced to look down on him, since he was too short. This made Ark realize that he must have grown! Another thing that he noticed when he looked down was the fact that his fur was another colour completely, it had now turned into a beautiful cyan colour, this made Ark realize that something was wrong. So he hurried to check his status page.

Seeing this made Ark very excited, he noticed that he hadn't gotten any stronger when it came to status, but he saw that many of the skills he had gained more levels. And he also noticed that he had evolved into a [Ice wolf].

Even though he didn't get any direct status increases Ark still realized that he had gained even more potential, which was even better than an upgrade that wouldn't do much later on if he didn't manage to get powerful. That was the reason people also favored talent more than the fighting power someone has, at least in recruiting in magic schools.

The reason talent meant more was just because someone who had more talent would be able to catch up with the one with more power and even surpass them later on.

Seeing that he had gotten 5 status points as well Ark concluded that the last level before his evolution had been [Lv. 15]. This made Ark wonder whether he would reach his limit at level 15 in this evolution a well, or if it would be able to go further than that. He also realized that the little bracket that said (16) meant that he was at least at that level of power.

Which meant that he would at least be the same as a [Lv. 16] human. Of course Ark was stronger than that, but it was still nice that he was able to see it since it would be easier to identify at which general power levels both he and his opponents were, especially since he wouldn't be able to tell if an opponent had gone through numerous evolution's or if it was just low leveled.

After this particular battle Ark had learned that he needed to gain some stronger vitality, his vitality right now was only 16, which was the reason why he got seriously injured so easily. Therefore he decided that he would put 4 points into it, making it an even 20. He decided to put the last point into his endurance since it would be a nice thing to have in the future.

Once his Vitality reached 20 he also heard the same old voice ringing out in his head, Ark had come to love this voice during the short time he had stayed here.

[Due to hosts vitality reaching 20 host has learned the skill "Regenerate"]

Hearing this Ark instantly decided to use his "Inspect" on it, just to see the exact help it would bring him since he knew the basic premise of what it was.

[Regenerate]

Grants enhanced regenerative abilities

Regenerates health 20% faster

Seeing this made Ark quite pleased, this skill was actually quite decent since it would allow Ark to care less for minor cuts or wounds that are not fatal, since they would regenerate a lot faster than before, in most cases however he would still decide to heal it if he had the Mana to just because of the low Mana cost.

Usually, when he healed himself Ark used Mana to speed up the regenerative ability of his body, so now that it was enhanced, he wouldn't need to use as much Mana as before.

Now that he had confirmed everything Ark also felt a white light envelop him for a couple of seconds when the light had vanished Ark could feel that his life force was brimming and he had more of it than ever. Seeing the same light again Leo watched Ark, when the light had vanished though he couldn't see any difference.

Deciding to not care about it anymore he was about to turn around again when he noticed that the wolf was making gestures to him, it seemed like it wanted him to follow it. At first, he didn't trust the wolf and decided to not come with it, but then he realized something, this wolf was incredibly powerful!

Leo didn't want to die just yet so he decided that it would be for the best if he just followed the wolf, it might not even harm him anyway.

After following the wolf for a couple of hours Leo had long grown tired, but he dared not slack behind since he was afraid to annoy the wolf. What he noticed, however, was that the trees were growing a little sparse. A short while later he noticed that they had arrived at the border of the forest they had just been in. He also noticed that there was a city in front of him.

The city in front of him was actually a bit majestic, the walls of the city seemed to be made up of some sort of stone. They were tall and majestic and gave the city a pretty cool and secure feeling.

When he had turned to look at the wolf he noticed that it had already started to disappear into the woods, as it was slowly leaving his sight Leo spoke to it for the last time.

"Thanks!"

....

After having heard these words from the youth Ark felt a little bit dejected. He really wanted to live with humans, he really wanted to be able to make friends, he really wanted to be able to someday start a family! But he couldn't, it was not possible for him. Thinking about this made Ark go from a bit dejected to a bit mad instead.

Everyone else always got everything served on a silver platter, even the other people that had come from his other world seemed to be the same, except for a single one. But Ark would show them! He would show them that he would far surpass them and live his life like he wanted to live it! And that nothing would stop him from doing so! Not even being a wolf!

Thinking this Ark left the city behind him, wandering off into the distance...
