Systemless in a Parallel World

Chapter 178 Giant King

The opponent on the final floor was a little bit different than expected.

"Not 5000 Green Giants, 500 Berserker Giants, 50 Giant Champions, and then King? Well, that's certainly…reassuring!"

Zayn smiled lightly. It seemed like the Tower AI was still sane. There was only one Giant King, a gigantic fifteen-meter-tall green-skinned powerhouse towering less than five hundred meters in front of him.

No matter how Zayn looked at it, he was a little worried. The Giant King was only a Soul Lord with three Soulrings but it was still an existence that ruled above the Giants.

'Is it the King of the Green Giants? Looks like it. All opponents in the tower have been Green Giants. That means…well, no forget that. Don't think too much, Zayn!'

It was his fortune that the Cavern Tower didn't seem to allow the challenger's opponent to be a complete rank stronger than the challenger when he first entered the Cavern Tower.

That meant no Mid-level Soul Lord-rank Monster could appear in the Cavern Tower. This was pretty lucky, even if Zayn was not too sure how much of an impact it made.

[The Final Challenge will commence in ten seconds.]

'It's time.'

When the mechanical voice resounded through the humongous floor, Zayn calmed down. He knew that he had to win, whether it was for the sake of turning a Giant King into his Spirit, or for the sake of the Cavern Tower's final rewards.

Zayn was eager to get his hands on everything and he was ready to go all out for it. After all, the used-up soul particles would be replenished by the Tower once the challenge was completed.

That was enough to mentally prepare for what he was about to do.

The Dragontale Twin Sabers were unsheathed and the soul particles inside his body began to churn.

At the same time, the mechanical voice rang out again.

[Let the final challenge being!]

The Giant King roared out loudly and charged forward. It crossed a distance of tens of meters in an instant.

The ground tremored and Zayn nearly lost his footing. However, he was not too worried anymore. He actually expected it to be worse.

"Come forth my soldiers!" He commanded and the Army of Spirits heed his call.

Close to 800 Spirits emerged in the humongous hall, filling it slowly. Simultaneously, hundreds of battle axes, Artifacts, and other Armaments emerged from within the Silvermoon Bracelet.

Everyone clutched their respective equipment the second they emerged from within the Grimoire of the Ancient and they began to charge forward without hesitation.

The Champion Giga was in the front, followed by more than 200 Berserk Gigas and 500 Gigas, everyone charged ahead.

"Try to severe his Achilles tendon, and his joint. The calves are also fine. Just inflict as many injuries as possible. Let him bleed to death!!"

Zayn had several tactics up to his sleeve but he chose the most suitable one for the given situation; brutally hacking away his opponent's skin and flesh.

Most of his Spirits were Giants with battle axes and broadswords. It was only obvious that he had to make use of that.

The Defense Horde and Assault Pack were kind of useless when faced with a Giant King. The same could be said about Tank, Saber, Mocalw, Glutton, the Sparrow Spirits, Maman, Berserk, Agile, and even Herculean.

Only Tera and Aero were somewhat useful. Tera could restrain the Giant King's movements, even if it was only little, while Aero was very good at releasing strong gusts to further accelerate the cleaves and slashes whenever the Gigas' attacks reached the Giant King.

That way, the somewhat useless attacks cut through the Giant King's Skin. This was more than enough to create a small opening that could be aimed at an enlarged with a follow-up attack. A third or fourth attack at the same spot should be more than enough to make actual damage.

Once hundreds of deep wounds had been inflicted, it would only be a matter of time before the Giant King bleed to death.

Unfortunately, the Giant King seemed more resilient than hoped. But Zayn already expected that not everything would go according to his plan.

He merged with the group of Gigas that rushed forward and channeled every single soul particle inside his body into the Dragontale Twin Sabers. Once he reached the Giant King's back, he jumped as high as possible while exerting the Dobuel Saber Kalivan martial arts technique.

A highly compressed Soulblade engulfed the Dragontale Twin Sabers. However, the Soulblade was not vibrant gold in color. Instead, it was of bright glacier blue.

The glacier-blue Soulblade exuded a frigid cold, which was strong enough to affect the Spirits around Zayn. Even Zayn was not completely unaffected.

He couldn't feel his fingers anymore, and the feeling in the rest of his hand was slowly deteriorating as well.

But Zayn was not afraid. He used every bit of his strength to wield the strongest form of the Dragontale Twin Saber while exerting the Double Saber Kalivan martial arts technique. Giving him all was the least he could do in a fight like this.

A single full-power blow should be enough to deal with the Giant King. It was only a Soul Lord, just like Zayn. However, the amount of soul particles Zayn had absorbed over the course of the last few weeks was too terrifying…and by unleashing all of it at the same time, at a concentrated point, even the Giant King shouldn't be able to handle it.

'Even if you can survive this, my subordinates will finish you off!' Zayn thought while praying that the Tower's regulation would still work even after he completed the final challenge.

He took a deep breath and released two compressed Glacier Slashes at the same time.

The entire world around Zayn seemed to freeze the moment he slashed in the Giant King's direction. Everything around him turned whitish-blue and the temperature dropped below zero. However, Zayn only had eyes for the compressed glacier slashes as they reached their target.

The moment they impacted, Zayn's expression contorted.

He may have used every bit of strength within his body, including all of his accumulated soul particles, but even then…shouldn't it be a little bit more difficult to put the Giant King into a near-death state?!

The moment the compressed glacier slashes impacted a part of the Giant King's neck was sliced of, and the frigid freezing trait of the Dragontale Twin Sabers came into effect.

The Giant King found himself in a state similar to paralyzation.

It could neither move nor feel anything. Was it already dead?

No, it was not dead…not yet, at least.

One of the compressed glacier slashes slices off a big part of the Giant King's neck. Meanwhile, the other attack issued with the other Dragontale Twin Saber cut deep into the Giant King's neck, spreading the freezing effect of the glacier.

'It's not the strength I put into the slash, nor the massive amount of soul particles that played the biggest role in damaging this bastard. No…it's just that my sword is way too strong!!' Zayn thought, while the remaining strength inside him vaned.

He had given his all with the compressed glacier slashes even if it may not have looked like this. His energy was drained and he was in dire need of some sleep.

However, he couldn't sleep yet.

He had to turn the Giant King into a Spirit once it died. That was more important than some sleep.

Thus, while waiting for the Giant King to be overwhelmed by the remaining Spirits, Zayn entered a state where he was half-conscious and half-unconscious.

'Giant King…just die!'
