Systemless in a Parallel World

Chapter 171 Worth It

Zayn initially wanted to focus on feasting on some good food. They accumulated enough merit points to purchase the best food, and they wanted to treat each other to something good.

That was what they deserved after working hard throughout the last two months.

However, the idiots in front of them bothered them too much.

Zayn felt that they were a hassle, so he chose to get rid of them as quickly as possible. He received an ordinary bow with ordinary arrows, and nocked three arrows at the same time before he released them without a second of hesitation.

Initially, he wanted to play around with their opponents, but the battle had already begun and it was about time that he whooped their butt.

Golden membranes shrouded the arrowheads tightly. Zayn had manifested Soulblades around the arrowheads to increase their attack prowess.

Taken by surprise, the green-haired leader and the other members of his Hunting Unit could barely lift their weapons in an attempt to block the attack.

They had yet to install the safety equipment properly, which was also why the Cadets had been startled of Zayn's sudden attack. They didn't expect Zayn to use such underhand means to attack them.

"You bastard! The battle didn't even star–.."

"The fight began the moment you got on my nerves, idiot!" Zayn shouted out loud, ignoring the green-haired cadets' words.

Rather than listening, Zayn focused his attention on the three arrows he had released. A burst of soul particles impacted on the arrows, changing their trajectory mid-air.

That was something Zayn intended to do. By releasing the energy of the Soulblades that coated the arrowheads, he could freely change the trajectory of the arrows. The amount of soul particles used was not too much but it was just enough for the purpose Zayn had in mind.

The arrows changed their trajectory, taking the cadets by surprise. Thus, while his opponents were desperately trying to deflect the arrows, Zayn released a new batch of arrows. The instance he released them, Zayn propelled the arrows forward using soul particles at the lower end of the arrow, giving it a spurt to accelerate faster and reach a faster tempo.

The second batch of arrows was much faster than the arrows whose trajectory had been changed. They impacted shortly after one another, taking away the opportunity to evade them.

The protective equipment, aka the protection membranes that had been cast on the cadets prior to a battle, burst apart, indicating that the arrows would have caused lethal damage. The cadets were eliminated and unable to continue participating in the battle, not if they didn't want to actually die facing off against Zayn.

Zayn, on the other hand, wasn't even wearing the protection membrane. He was too hungry to give a fuck about it. After working for two months tirelessly, he deserved some good food. Their entire Hunting Unit had been excited to eat something good, only for those idiots to interrupt and worsen their good mood.

His frustration set the new mood, and he didn't even think of holding back. He released one arrow after another, until the cadets looked like the incarnation of human-like porcupines.

"We…give up…" The green-haired cadet voiced out in between two heavy breathers.

Zayn didn't even pay attention to them after he heard that and he turned around to his fellow comrades.

"We're done here, right? Let's go eat something good!"

Without looking back to the porcupine-like cadets, he returned the bow and now-empty quiver to the training ground staff. They looked at him with complex expressions but nobody said anything.

Zayn noticed that the others were looking at him and he smiled lightly.

"What are you guys spacing out? Let's go!"

Their reaction was interesting but Zayn was simply too focused on food that he couldn't give less attention to the surrounding area. His stomach was crying out loudly and his mind was under the complete influence of the starving feeling that encompassed his entire being.

"Isn't he way too excited?" Mike asked, not really understanding how much of a foodie Zayn was.

"Let him be. It's interesting to see that Zayn is not only a powerhouse but also that he has his own…flaws…if you want to put it like this." Jeremy said, recalling the dozens if not a hundred battles they fought side by side. Zayn was certainly a monster.

He learned a new type of weapon during the last two months and was already pretty proficient with it. Zayn didn't even have a problem with maintaining a high proficiency wielding the Dragontale Twin Sabers. His mastery of Merlin's saber technique increased quite a bit as well.

"To think that this monster is actually a glutton. He eats a lot even when we're hanging out, but to think that he actually fought a Hunting Unit on his own just to get faster to the feast he promised us." Leona snickered while shaking her head.

She was still having a hard time figuring out how lucky they had been to find someone like Zayn. He was their lucky charm, whether the others wanted to accept that or not.

"That's fine, isn't it? The staff didn't interrupt him either."

"Well…probably? I don't know if the staff is strong enough to do something against Zayn, to begin with."

"There were enough witnesses, so it's definitely fine…well, most likely."

The others smiled at each other for a few seconds. They burst into laughter one after another and quickly followed behind Zayn.

Zayn turned around a few times to urge them to come.

However, seeing the others laughing with each other, he felt oddly relieved. It was a little weird, but it didn't feel bad at all.

'Even if it was not for the Cavern Tower, I think it's worth staying here for the time being. I don't really care about the Normie Union, even though I haven't found any evidence yet. This is much more important…'

The Normie Union and information about other Otherworldler had been one of the few reasons why he entered the Silverflame Camp. However, even the Cavern Dungeon and the other reasons were not as important as the experiences he made these days.

It was something new…something that made it worth living.
