Systemless in a Parallel World

Chapter 156 Mysterious Stranger

Even though Zayn didn't know any of the Blessed or Normies, he was intrigued by their group.

He could tell that the two Blessed trusted their leader, who was a Normie. For a Blessed to trust a Normie, they either had to know each other for a year, preferably even before anyone of them had been blessed, or there had to be a trigger event that created the bond of trust between them.

The Normies trusted the Blessed and vice versa. This was interesting to see, especially because none of the kids was in their 20s yet. They were the new generation, which was known for hating Normies more than anyone else.

Zayn was not too sure why the younger generation hated Normies more than the older generations, but he heard some rumors. One of the rumors said that Blessed of the newer generation receive far more missions related to inflicting physical or mental harm on Normies.

According to this rumor, the extent of those missions was extreme, to an extent where Normies are crippled, killed, and violated in ways no being should ever have to face. It was pure torture and a clear sign that the Gods hated Normies more and more.

At least that was what the rumors would suggest if they were true.

The Blessed of the youngest generation didn't want to lose out against their peers. They wanted to be the best, the strongest, and overcome the pressure they received from society by turning into the beaming pillar of hope mankind needed.

Zayn didn't meet many Blessed of the younger generations yet, but the few encounters he had with people like Rail Landal and other peers had been more than enough to understand that the younger generation was willing to do much more to become stronger than the older generations.

However, the Blessed fighting side by side with the Normies seemed different. They didn't hesitate to help the Normies and to heed the commands of their leader.

That was something Zayn was intrigued about. It was also why he chose to help out a little. Rescuing someone was the best way to naturally come in contact with the group.

Appearing in the clearing once the battle was over may attract some suspicion. Zayn wanted to avoid this by joining the fight. This had worked out pretty decently.

While the Troll had relentlessly bashed the heavy shield of the Soul Knight, it didn't pay any attention to the surrounding.

Zayn jumped down from one of the huge branches, landing on the shoulders of the Troll before he cut through the neck of the monster with the Dragontale Twin Sabers.

He had used the freezing trait of the Dragontale Twin Sabers and had their blades mantled in a thick Soulblade.

The cuts were much smoother than expected and Zayn watched the Troll's head falling to the ground with a small smile on his face.

Being a Soul Knight whose soulframe was already filled close to 60% was certainly an advantage. His physical strength was quite high and the amount of soul particles he could use for every attack was also not something that could be underestimated.

"Who…are you?" The Normie, whom he had just saved asked, staring blankly at Zayn.

The Troll's corpse collapsed on the ground with Zany remaining on its back. He reached out to the Soul Wisp and devoured the ownerless soul particles, not minding the baffled Normie and the exhausted Blessed behind him.

Even if they had great senses, they wouldn't be able to tell what he had just done. He might just have obtained a natural Soulwish.

"Who am I? Just some dude!" Zayn answered vaguely.

He was not yet sure whether the Normies and Blessed were trustworthy. It could also be that people from Zerek were looking for him to question him about the disappearance of 400 Blessed. But before coming up with a different name, which he might forget in the future, Zayn would rather keep things a little more mysterious.

Kevin was not convinced and he was just about to ask the mysterious stranger a few questions when he saw that the last Troll was wreaking havoc.

Leona had been smashed against a tree. She coughed up blood and turned pale before she collapsed.

David was desperately trying to block the attacks of the Troll but he wielded two shortswords. Blocking the attack of a heavy Troll with full force was not only difficult but also extremely dangerous and painful. David's shortswords were already crackling with white cobweb-like cracks spreading throughout the blades.

The blades burst into countless fragments two hits later, and the wooden club was about to impact and break David's hand when he jumped to the side. He rolled over the ground and hurried up to get back on his feet, where he saw that the Troll had diverted its attention from him.

It looked at Leona and raised its arm to strike down on her.

"No!!" David shouted out loudly while rushing over to Leona. He used his remaining soul particles at once to deliver a rapid sprint and ended up next to Leona, whom he grasped as he jumped to the side.

The Troll's club ought to impact a mere moment later, but nothing happened.

David was not sure if he had just gone deaf but there weren't even the vibrations of the heavy impact the Troll's cleave would have caused.

Only several seconds after he and Leona's unconscious bodies landed on the ground did he start hearing various overlapping noises.

'What is going on? Why isn't the Troll attacking?'

He turned around, calmly and was filled with worry about the grotesque face he was about to see. However, before he saw the Troll's hideous grimace staring down at him with his arm raised to kill him and Leone in the next moment, he encountered something completely different as he turned around.

His eyes widened, and various thoughts flashed through his mind.

'I am not dead, right? … But why am I seeing something like that then?'
