Chapter 108 Shut It, Bitch!
Now that he thought about it, Liam could tell that something bad would happen.
He felt like Olivia had simply jinxed it by saying that everything would be fine.
Nothing was fine, and he felt like dragging Olivia over to the crossbow bolt that would have pierced his head if not for him reacting fast enough and using a Silverheart Dwarf as his meat shield.
It hadn't taken too long before they found the other hunting group of the Silverheart Dwarves. In fact, they had spent only a little more than half an hour traveling through the forest of the Jula Valley and preparing an attack when they encountered the Silverheart Dwarves.
There were only ten of them but they were still hunting their prey. Their prey was also humans, just like the targets of the other hunting group.
Liam and the women found the Silverheart Dwarves as they charged into a small camp where three men and six women had been living for a few days.
The three men were fighting valiantly, but they were easily overwhelmed. Not long after, Liam saw an arm flinging through the air, a corpse landing on the ground, and a man collapsing down, bleeding like a pig.
As expected, the women were not killed. The weapons they wielded were snatched from their hands forcibly and the women were punched and kicked to subdue them. The Silverheart Dwarves wanted to establish their superiority and claim the women for themselves.
Liam had charged at the Silverheart Dwarves when he perceived the opportunity. Unfortunately, one of the frightened women thought that it was a good idea to attack at the same time. She didn't even aim at him but at the head of one of the Silverheart Dwarves. Her attack missed the Dwarf by far, while precisely following the path to Liam's head.
Fortunately, Liam had his Devil's Eyes activated and saw the bolt flying in his direction. He could tell that the woman had looked at the Silverheart Dwarf but somehow had aimed the crossbow perfectly at him.
In an instant, he had shot to the side and pulled the Silverheart Dwarf to make the frightened woman's attack meet and kill her intended target and not him. Afterward, he spent a few seconds killing the remaining Silverheart Dwarves.
Felicia and Olivia joined the battle this time as well. Meanwhile, Jennie picked out the targets she and the frightened women were supposed to shoot at.
That way, they could end the battle quickly, while making sure that the frightened women would also contribute, even if it was just a little.
The only problem was that one of the frightened women hadn't paid attention to the plan they had come up with. She was shivering and mumbling that she didn't intend to attack Liam but that she had aimed somewhere entirely different.
Olivia looked warily over to Liam. She clearly recalled her words in response to Liam's threat and subconsciously touched her neck, not knowing what to say.
Liam seemed to ignore the gazes that were drawn onto him. Instead of paying attention to the women around him, he approached the man whose gut had been cut open.
The three men of the camp that had been targeted by the Silverheart Dwarves were lying next to each other. One of them had been split in half through the cleave of a war-axe, another one had lost his right arm while trying to block the heavy broadsword that had cut through his weapon and arm as if they were made of tofu, and the third man was currently lying in a puddle of his own blood, clearly on the verge of death.
"Do you want to die with a weapon in your hand?" Liam asked as he approached him, clearly seeing the fear in the eyes of the young man. Tears were streaming down the cheeks of the young man. He knew that he was about to die and that he didn't have much time left. However, he didn't want to leave this world.
No matter how messed up the Arcane Apocalypse was and how dangerous it was, death was never the solution or an escape from reality. The young man was not willing to die…but there was nothing he could do.
He had to accept his fate. That way, he might even be able to feel a little bit of peace.
However, before the young and dying man could even say anything, the scream of a woman rang through the camp, "You monster. HELP HIM!"
Liam raised his right eyebrow, lifting his head to look over to the woman who had screamed at him. He pressed his lips together and his claws moved slowly.
'Should I just kill her?'
It was already enough that an idiotic woman from earlier had nearly decorated her crossbow bolt with his head. He had ignored her but he didn't really feel like dealing with another stupid woman.
"Shut it, bitch!" He thundered while unleashing his Arcane Power all of a sudden. His presence intensified all of a sudden, and killing intent reached the young woman who had shouted at Liam earlier.
The woman turned silent all of a sudden, while Liam's gaze flicked back to the young man, who had stopped moving.
His eyes were still open but there was no life inside them anymore. The young man's mouth was also open as if he wanted to say something but couldn't.
"Look, now he is dead. You couldn't even give him the chance to say his final words. Good job, attention whore," Liam mumbled, turning away from the lifeless body.
He ignored the woman who had begun to cry and started to collect the heavy armor sets and heavy weapons of the Silverheart Dwarves.
Everything was put up for sale in the Early Birds Shop. The Dwarven corpses were devoured with the use of the Livral orb.
This action garnered frightened gazes and it further tarnished his image in the eyes of the other women.
But that was something he could hardly be bothered about. He was not a nanny.
He walked over to the man who had just lost his arm.
That man was screaming at the top of his lungs, even when Liam appeared in front of him.
Liam's eyes gleamed coldly as his right hand shot out, strangling the man by his neck.
"Do you have a death wish, bastard?"
