240 Chapter 239: 10 years later

....Ten years later...

Gerald and the remaining forces of Gyro have done their best to take Damon’s life now he was at his weakest.

They failed….

It didn’t take long before the other hosts arrived and it turned into a one-sided massacre. With fury, almost all the noble families of the gyro Kingdom were wiped out in just that single night.

By the next day, the battle was over and Gyro had been taken. With the four hosts of the old gods and the twin dragon hosts killed, the foothold gained by the invaders on the continent was shattered and a fierce counterattack was launched. Apart from those who fled back to the endless seas, every other person was killed.

Within a space of a decade, a new empire was built and Damon called it immortal.

An empire that will last till the end of times, as long as he remains a deity, nothing will be able to touch them. An empire he can watch over from the heavens.

Contrary to what every other person believed the empire would be like, they were all stunned when Damon brought forth his ideas.

They were expecting to come across a dictator who would hoard all the power but strangely that didn’t happen. A council was built and it was made up of all the leaders of the previous kingdoms and the current hosts who are also major stakeholders of this new empire.

.....

Strangely, Damon gave them the right to run the empire together by voting on things and how did they manage to get the various races to live in harmony?

Force!

With undead soldiers patrolling the streets of the empire twenty-four hours a day, not many will boldly come out to cause issues. Though at the early stages of the empire, many came out to resist but Damon had his soldiers kill them off on the spot. At first, it sparked an empire wide protest which led to the biggest massacre in the history of the continent. Right before their eyes, Damon’s undead soldiers began massacring protesters, chasing them down and killing them off.

It was at this moment that other members of the council realized what kind of empire this is. While everyone had the right to do as they wished, there is a limit to what is allowed. Damon gives no warning when dealing with those with treacherous thoughts like this.

As far as he is concerned he has done enough to earn their respect and have them believe in him. If these people decide to make life much harder than it already is for him, he wouldn’t hesitate to let them die off. Since they won’t give him respect, he will have them fear him.

During the early stages of the empire which was built at the center of the continent, surrounded by one of the four great mountains of the central plains.

Damon quickly retreated to the blood mountain and created his sect there. The palace of the dead was home to every dark mage in the empire who chose to become a part of his personal legion. During this time, he tidied up all loose ends and publicly announced Blink as his successor, a member of the council and the current leader of the palace of the dead. Damon simply became an elder and after another five years of inactivity, he vanished from the minds of people.

The world was always reminded of his presence each time they see the undead army but that was all. No one heard from him or saw him for half a decade and that was probably why they almost forgot about him.

...…

“Master” A young man with waist-length silver hair walked into a dark room and fell on his knees.

This man was in his mid-twenties yet he exuded a majestic aura that can only be found amongst Royals and the founding members of the Immortal Empire.

“They have come?” A hoarse voice sounded followed by heavy coughs.

Blink looked at the figure chained up in the darkness. The man was thin with his bone structures visible. His once beautiful black hair had lost its color and he seemed to have aged a thousand years.

He wore a robe to conceal his condition and always shrouded his body in darkness but none of these things can escape Blink’s eyes.

He gazed at his master with greater sorrow in his heart. This is what Damon became after he survived the suicide attempt by Cassidy. Wounds caused by light magic and life magic were two different things.

One could only harm him but the other completely crippled him.

In the angel realm, he couldn’t get any weaker; it was just that his body wasn’t suitable for battle anymore. Right now, by creating his own sect, he created his own cult which prays to him and helps him accumulate the power of faith.

Sadly, he was also the most hated among the rest of the hosts….

Outside those within his sect, no one really bothered praying to Damon. Instead, they all chose to follow the other hosts.

The empire was surrounded by four mountains, and while Damon had control over the palace of the dead, Cyrus reopened the holy church. Gin created the Skyfall palace and Elsa created the Pantheon temple.

Each of these hosts became the deities of this empire which people prayed to and it worked. Instead of praying to the gods that couldn’t be seen. They were encouraged to pray to those who could help them out instantly and give them results.

Damon, who was once ahead of his peers in terms of cultivation, ended up watching them catch up to him since no one really liked him. The others accumulated the power of faith far faster than he could but he didn’t seem to care. His eyes were cold and indifferent as he looked past Blink as if he could see something more pressing to deal with.

Right now, his Ascension to Godhood was not his priority.
