Chapter 137
137 Chapter 136: Circle of trust
Damon slowly opened his eyes and found himself in a massive room with only a lantern to illuminate the entire room, leaving behind too many dark corners.
Arrgh!
Damon gripped his head in pain as he felt like his head was struck by a bolt of lightning. He could still remember his final moments before losing consciousness. After wrapping the fake sun with his darkness, he summoned his undying wolf avatar and shattered it but he had put too much strain on his body, causing him to lose consciousness.
“The fact I’m still alive means you stepped in. I don’t know whether to thank you for saving me or be annoyed that you had little faith in me and followed me there” Damon said calmly as he gazed at the lantern with a slight frown on his face.
Whoosh!
Following a strong breeze, Cassius emerged from one of the dark corners into the room and fell on a knee. His face bowed and his eyes emotionless as Damon’s gaze fell on him which made him uncomfortable. The problem wasn’t that he felt hostility from Damon, the problem was that he couldn’t feel a thing!
A man who can control his emotions perfectly is far more dangerous than a man wielding a sword.
“Actually, I wasn’t the one that saved you... The two guardian spirit hosts stepped in and battled the Sun god host. They managed to deliver a fatal blow by the time I arrived.. all I did was take you away” Cassius explained, causing a hint of surprise to flash across Damon’s face.
“Ooh? Tell me what happened” Damon replied with interest burning in his eyes
.....
How could warrior realm experts battle spirit realm foes? If Gin and Cyrus are capable of that, doesn’t that mean they were stronger than him?
Cassius quickly recounted the story and Damon was even more stunned. He knew of many pathways but the ones Cyrus and Gin used were beyond his wildest imagination. Hearing that Gin got hurt too and now suffers the same cultivation defect as his student made Damon frown too but he didn’t speak.
“Can it be fixed?” Damon asked with a raised eyebrow.
“The Life mage confirmed he can fix this but his realm is too low. Once he reaches the spirit realm, it shouldn’t be too difficult” Cassius said, making Damon’s frown deepen.
Spirit realm!
That’s a long way to go!
Does that mean his student and his friend would be forced to live with this defect for at least half a decade if they ever want to get fixed?
An unexpected turn of events!
“Is there anything else you think I need to know?” Damon asked casually, seemingly more tired than before. It seemed like the disappointment put far more strain on him than the battle with Kaido.
“Yes... My spies have confirmed that the four great kingdoms are already mobilizing their forces... it won’t take long before they begin matching toward the central continent for our heads... I hope my lord would put his sentiments for humans aside and deal with these invaders accordingly!” Cassius said as he kowtowed.
This seemed to be more of a plea than a request. Even Cassius didn’t want to see the blood mountain fall because Damon is too sentimental to deal with his old allies.
“Hmph! This is my new home, our home. If anyone dares to attack it... they cannot blame me for being ruthless!” Damon said with a stern look on his face.
Only after hearing this did Cassius exhale as if a heavy burden had been removed. He quickly explained to Damon that he has been unconscious for a week now and it was already day time.
Leading Damon downstairs, they walked to the dining room where Damon saw Gin, Klien, Lucy, Cyrus, and Blink having lunch. They all seemed to be chatting happily until they saw Damon.
“Master!” Blink cried out and left his food, and rushed over, giving Damon a big hug.
Seeing Damon hold the boy in a caring manner, everyone was stunned and they all had the same thoughts running through their mind at the same time.
“Don’t be stupid, I’m only twenty and he is thirteen... If he is my son, doesn’t it mean I must have been intimate with someone when I was only seven?” Damon said as he sensed the crazy thoughts running through everyone’s mind.
His words caused everyone to laugh including Cassius but that wasn’t Damon’s main focus right now. He could see Lucy sitting next to Klien while holding his hand under the tables.
Seeing this, Damon frowned slightly and walked to a seat before pulling a plate over and putting an entire roasted chicken on it.
“Is there something you would like to tell me?” Damon asked while his cold gaze was pinned on Klien who didn’t dare look him in the eyes.
The careful mood soon turned sour as the atmosphere became heavy and uncomfortable.
“It was two years after your ‘death’. It was a hard time for me and she was there... one thing led to another and this happened. I’m really sorry if it makes you feel uncomfortable” Klien stood up and bowed deeply but Damon casually waved his hand, dismissing the issue casually.
His face seemed void of emotions leaving everyone confused. They knew Damon wouldn’t make a big fuss out of it but they didn’t know he would dismiss it so easily as if it was nothing. Lucy felt hurt and a deep frown appeared on her face!
Damon’s actions proved how irrelevant she was in his life.
“What?” Damon asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Klien betrayed my trust by getting intimate with someone who was my girlfriend even though there was a chance of survival, for that he has lost my trust... But that’s no reason for me to go crazy. If she couldn’t wait for five years then she’s just not worth the effort, why would I get pissed over someone not worth my effort?” Damon asked casually with a raised eyebrow.
Buzzz!
Klien turned pale as Damon spoke those words and he instantly felt a hint of hostility surging toward him from Cassius who stood behind Damon. Meanwhile, Lucy was extremely hurt by Damon’s words. She dropped everything and stood up, ready to leave but then she heard Damon’s stern voice.
“The moment I walked down I felt your intentions. You hunger towards me, you want me and I was happy. How wouldn’t be happy that his girlfriend wants him after five years but realizing you are already with Klien changes anything. You are a Basilisk and will go to any length just to get what you want so I will say this now. Any day or anytime everyone in this room is in a crisis due to your actions I will kill you and consume your soul, stripping you of the chance of reincarnation.... If your boyfriend tries to get in my way I will kill him as well” Damon said as he ate turning Klien and Lucy pale.
What terrified them the most is that Damon could say all this without showing any emotions. It meant they were serious as fuck with what he said.
“Should I kill them? I believe they will serve you better as a part of your undead forces” Cassius Blood asked as he gazed at the two leaving the table but Damon merely shook his head in refusal.
“Knowing Klein, he will die in my service while trying desperately to regain my trust.... Lucy will try something stupid soon and I will end up killing her... their future is quite certain so you shouldn’t bother yourself” Damon said casually.
He ate in silence as he watched Lucy leave and Klien chase after her. His eyes soon shifted to Gin and a hint of worry could be seen in his eyes.
“I came to save you guys and ended up putting you in a difficult position... I apologize!” Damon said with apologetic eyes and the two nodded casually, acting as if Klien and Lucy were never there in the face place.
“It’s nothing, we should be the ones thanking you. We practically had the Gyro kingdom’s sword at our neck and they were close to realizing our real identities.... If you didn’t come been you did, it would have been over for us” Gin said.
“By the way, I’m not the only one dealing with a cultivation defect here. While you were playing sleeping beauty, we got a detailed story of everything that happened with your little disciple and I must say, wow.... These gods are quite desperate to put you down” Gin laughed.
“Us down... it’s us now” Cyrus said and all three laughed.
Seeing the three laugh while talking about battling gods and forces of the continent as if it was nothing Cassius was stunned. Even with their weak cultivation and even cultivation defects, these people weren’t moved.
‘Being calm in the face of danger is the privilege only made available to the strong’ Cassius remembered the words of the old death mage he followed almost half a Millenium ago.
