Chapter 43: The Clash Between Uchiha Akira and Uchiha Shisui
Uchiha Akira's sudden attack on Danzo Shimura was driven by multiple reasons. On one hand, it was pure hatred—not just for Danzo's theft of Shisui's eye, but also for the way Danzo had manipulated Orochimaru to attack him. But beyond that, Akira knew that sparing Danzo wouldn't benefit the Uchiha clan in any way.
Shisui and Itachi both believed in stepping back and seeking peace. However, history had shown that the more they retreated, the more the higher-ups of Konoha pushed forward without restraint. In the end, this hesitation led to the complete annihilation of the Uchiha clan.
Sometimes, it's said that stepping back can open up a path to peace. But in reality, most of the time, retreat only emboldens the aggressor. So why retreat at all?
Both rationally and emotionally, Akira believed that now was the time to take action. Moreover, with Shisui and Itachi by his side, there was a good chance they could take down Danzo. So, why hesitate?
Regardless of Akira's reasons, his sudden move prompted a response. A Root ninja stepped forward to confront him. Despite Akira's talents, he was still just a six-year-old child. The Root operatives thought one of them would be enough to handle him.
But as Akira's two-tomoe Sharingan focused on the ninja's movements, he clearly saw the attack coming. Twisting his waist, Akira lashed out with his leg like a whip, delivering a powerful kick.
Konoha Whirlwind!
Bang! The force of Akira's kick sent the Root ninja flying, despite the significant size difference between the two. The six-year-old had just overpowered an adult ninja. "Eight Gates?!"
Danzo's eyes widened in shock as he watched the scene unfold. This child was only six years old, and only a few months had passed since he participated in the Chunin Exams with Might Guy. Yet, he had already reached this level of mastery over the Eight Gates?
Murderous intent filled Danzo's gaze as he looked at Akira. The Uchiha were already dangerous, but one with such overwhelming talent was even more so. He had to be eliminated.
Seeing that Akira had already initiated the attack, Shisui and Itachi hesitated only for a moment before joining the fight. The Root operatives, though few in number-only five or six —were among the most elite. Even when ambushing Shisui, they hadn't been confident of capturing him. But now, with Akira and Itachi's support, the battle was over in mere minutes, leaving the Root ninjas lying on the ground.
Just as Akira was about to strike Danzo down, Shisui suddenly appeared in front of him, blocking his path with a swift Body Flicker Technique.
Danzo, realizing his peril, quickly assessed the situation. Ignoring the fallen Root operatives, he fled without hesitation.
"Shisui-sensei!" Akira shouted, his voice filled with anger and frustration. They had had a rare opportunity to kill Danzo, but Shisui had stopped him. Akira was both furious and desperate.
"This is enough, Akira," Shisui said, shaking his head at the young Uchiha.
From Shisui's perspective, driving Danzo away after his attack was sufficient. He believed there was no need to escalate further.
"Do you really think that by sparing him, Konoha's higher-ups will leave the Uchiha alone?" Akira couldn't contain his anger any longer and shouted back at Shisui.
In the grand scheme of things, the conflict between the Uchiha clan and Konoha's leadership was something beyond what a mere child could influence. That's why Akira had always focused on survival, on biding his time and growing stronger. But now, with a chance to kill Danzo right before him, only to be stopped by Shisui, Akira couldn't hold back any longer.
"Akira, Konoha is a family. If we were to kill Danzo here today, the Uchiha would be wiped out entirely," Shisui explained, trying to reason with him. To Shisui, Akira was still just a child- impulsive and inexperienced.
"No! It's because we let him go that the Uchiha will be wiped out!" Akira retorted, shaking his head vehemently.
"Konoha is a good place, and I like it," Akira continued, his voice firm. "But the higher-ups in Konoha are corrupt! Shisui-sensei, have you ever wondered why so many of Konoha's top warriors-like the Fourth Hokage, the Sannin, and the White Fang-are either dead or have left? Why the Senju clan is gone? Why the Uzumaki clan was wiped out?"
"The truth is, those in power don't like having strong subordinates, especially if they're strong enough to pose a threat. What they want are subordinates who are completely loyal and obedient. And that's the real source of the conflict between the Uchiha and Konoha's leadership."
Boom! Akira's words left both Shisui and Itachi staring at him in shock, wide-eyed at the realization.
