The big explosion kept going more than two times, and honestly, I thought our base was getting hit by a bunch of missiles.

Luckily for them, the people who built it knew what they were doing, and it could handle this kind of attack.

But at this moment, I was seriously annoyed. I'm here, trying to sneak in all quiet and smooth, and then some idiot decides to crash in like a wrecking ball. Talk about terrible timing.

"Follow me, and don't go anywhere else," the director ordered, still trying to maintain some semblance of order.

I followed him, and during this emergency, it looked like everyone forgot the usual rules. We entered a control room, and everyone was busy dealing with something.

As for Zhang, he headed straight to the other department to get some medications that could neutralize the downer. If there was one person who could salvage this situation, it was him.

Inside the Control Room.

I could see that everyone was extremely busy, so I took a moment to observe and analyze the situation.

"Sir, the protective barrier has been compromised!" one of the personnel reported with urgency.

"Additionally, our AI system is currently attempting to restore the barrier, but we are concurrently depending against multiple cyber attack," chimed in another.

"Sir, a significant portion of our network firewalls has been compromised," reported by another.

In succession, unfavorable updates continued to stream in. However, upon learning about the cyber attack and the intrusion into our network, an opportunity presented itself.

With the AI busy dealing with the attack and the barrier down, I could be bolder with my actions.

I sneakily teleported his card to me , and whispered something, and the usually talkative director fell silent, now under my control.

Using Mind Link, I just asked where they were keeping my mother .

When I got the info, he handed over his access key and pretended to sort of told me to go check on the prison quarters. That was my cue, so I slipped away.

Everyone was too caught up in their own mess to pay any attention to me.

*STEP!

I sprinted towards the prison cell, my heart racing. Finally, I was going to see my mom after all this years.

"Mom," I whispered to myself.

Agents in combat suits were rushing past me, paying little attention as I sprinted by. At this point, almost everyone was in a hurry, not just me.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

And just like that, I breezed through multiple mechanical doors until I reached the lobby where my mother was held. However—

"Why are there so many corpses here?" I muttered aloud.

The once white walls were now smeared with blood, and I could see numerous bodies seemingly hurled against them with force. It was like a chaotic scene straight out of a horror movie.

At the same time, the smell of blood hung heavy in the air, and it was fresh. Whoever did this had been here just a few minutes ago.

'Not good, Mom!' I realized that my mother might be in danger.

Without wasting any time, I propelled myself into her room.

The door was forced open, as I feared, and I saw three masked individuals, one of them holding my mother on his shoulder.

"Let go of her!" I shouted, then I used my Telekinesis to grab them, my go-to skill to neutralize enemies quickly.

However, in my vision, the invisible hands I created were met by another set of invisible hands.

BOOOOOOM!

The clash between the two abilities echoed, but with my power currently limited, I was pushed back.

"Who are you?" a muffled voice echoed from one of the guys holding my mom. He was the tallest, and even though I couldn't see his face, his dark eyes were staring at me.

"I should be asking that question. What are you going to do with her?" I asked, avoiding mention that she was my mother. I didn't want them to use her as a hostage.

"We are here to rescue her from the likes of you. Cerebrum dog ," He replied with contempt.

"Bullshit, give her to me or else," I warned them.

I was tempted to use my black hole power, but there was a risk it could accidentally harm my mom. Black hole was a power that didn't discriminate against any living being, after all. The only person immune to it was the user.

"You're so ill-mannered, as expected of a dirty dog," the tall masked man shook his head in disappointment.

*SWOOOOOH!

Without any warning, he propelled himself towards me using Telekinesis. His control over this power seemed even more efficient than mine, closing the gap between us effortlessly.

*BLINK

I teleported with lightning speed, inch away, narrowly dodging his incoming attack. As time seemed to slow around me, I seized the moment to launch my counterattack.

The air crackled with energy as I activated the weakened version of my skill, I clinched my fist. With a swift strike, I aimed for his body which was now floating in front of me.

"Amateur ," he sneered in contempt, and I felt like my body froze mid-attack.

It felt surreal to be on the receiving end of the very skills I frequently used. The familiarity of the attacks made it all the more bizarre, but there was no time to be amazed – only to react and counter.

"Fuck you," I spat out and unleashed Blackhole, expecting him to be caught off guard.

However, his reaction time was faster than I thought; he jumped back like a blur before my skill even formed. How fast was his mind working to do that?

In that quick exchange, I was able to figure out something. This guy was stronger than Zhang.

Both of us found ourselves in a standstill. Now that he had figured out about my one-shot skill, he became more cautious too.

Likewise, I had to be careful; his Telekinesis was currently stronger than mine, maybe even stronger than mine before my power restriction.

"Zyden, we don't have time to waste," one of the assailants spoke urgently.

'They know my name?' I was shocked by this revelation. These people actually knew me. Could they be allies?

"Give me some time, I need to deal with this guy first before we can take Mom out of here," the tall masked man replied.
