Chapter 302: Secretive

Chapter 302: Secretive

Hearing He Yufan's words, Li Chengjun took a tray and said, "I doubt the world will ever return to what it was. This new world might be the new normal in the future."

After taking his food, Li Chengjun found an empty seat and began eating. Despite his hunger, Li Chengjun ate with the grace of someone accustomed to high society.

Huang Zhihui, who was sitting at the next table, nudged Deng Qiqi lightly with her elbow and said, "Qiqi, look at that guy. The way he eats-it's like he is royalty."

Hearing this, Yao Ran commented, "His family is a direct descendant from the royal family of an ancient dynasty. Lawyer Li is, in a way, a prince."

Huang Zhihui's eyes sparkled when he heard what Yao Ran said. She was very excited, but she still held back her voice and whispered, "A real prince! I never thought I'd see one in my lifetime!"

Huang Qian rolled his eyes at his young sister and said with disdain, "Stop gawking at him and eat. It's rude to stare at people."

Huang Zhihui retorted, "I just took a look at him! Besides, you don't get to see a living prince every day."

"Do you know that your gaze shows your hidden intention?" Huang Qian asked.

Huang Zhihui glared at her elder brother and asked unhappily, "What kind of look did I give him?"

"Like you want to devour him in the next second," Huang Qian replied, taking a big bite of the meat bun.

Noticing that He Yufan and Gu Zhaoyan had already joined Li Changjun at the dining table, Huang Zhihui stopped arguing with her elder brother and focused on staring at the three men while eating.

She sighed and commented, "Even that uncle is handsome. He must have been a male god in countless women's hearts when he was young."

After a moment of silence, Huang Zhihui sighed again in disappointment, "If there was still an internet connection, I could show off to those annoying girls from my class."

Deng Qiqi chuckled and said, "Isn't this better? You will be the only one who gets to appreciate these handsome men."

Hearing her best friend's comment, Huang Zhihui laughed, "You are right, Qiqi."

While the two of them chatted happily, Long Yu turned to Yao Ran and asked, "Ran Ran, what do you want to ask them about?"

With people around, Yao Ran lowered her voice and whispered to Long Yu, "Do you remember Yao Yuechuan mentioning that Assistant He knew some secrets about the Yao Security Company?"

Long Yu nodded, "Mhm."

She glanced at three men eating in silence and explained, "As Grandpa's personal assistant, he must know things that even the senior officers don't. I need to find out the truth about the company and why Grandpa kept it hidden from me."

"When will you ask him?" Long Yu asked after thinking about it.

"Not now," Yao Ran replied after a moment's thought. "He seems unwell. I will wait until he's rested and recovered."

"Alright. Let me know if you need help," Long Yu said, placing a piece of braised meat into her bowl.

Yao Ran smiled and nodded, "Mhm, I will."

After breakfast, Yao Ran filled the water tanks in the storage room and tended to the crops in the hydroponic rooms and greenhouses. While she was busy working, Gu Zhaoyan, He Yufan, and Li Chengjun returned to their rooms to rest.

In the afternoon, Yao Ran gave them a simple check-up. After the check-up, she told them to rest for a few days and then asked Mother Han and Mother Sima to prepare some nutritious meals for the three of them.

The next morning, Yao Ran woke up and saw Old Han returning from outside. She asked, "Uncle Han, are those people still out there?"

Old Han shook his head and replied, "They left early this morning. When I went out with my sons to clean up the area, we didn't see any of them."

Hearing this, Yao Ran nodded in acknowledgment and said, "That's good."

Seeing that she had no further questions, Old Han added, "Miss Yao, I still need to tend to the crops in the greenhouses. I will go first."

"Mhm, thank you for your hard work, Uncle Han." Yao Ran replied.

With the survivors no longer outside, everyone returned to their daily tasks and lived peacefully.

Entering the dining room, Yao Ran looked around but couldn't find Long Yu. After serving herself a portion of breakfast, she sat across from Jia Xiang and asked, "Sister Jia, have you seen A Yu?"

Yao Ran was a little unused to it because she had not seen him today since Long Yu usually waited for her at the dining table every morning to have breakfast together.

Jia Xiang calmly bit into her bread and replied, "I heard from Wuan Yuanwei that Captain went out with A Xuan and A Qian early in the morning. I don't know what they are doing or where they have gone, but something feels off."

Yao Ran raised an eyebrow when she heard Jia Xiang's words. "What do you mean?" She asked curiously.

Jia Xiang glanced around to ensure no one was nearby before continuing.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

"Captain has been acting very sneaky since yesterday. He seems busy with something but hasn't told anyone except A Xuan and A Qian. When I asked him about it, he just brushed me off. I have known Captain for years, and I can tell he is hiding something from us."

Hearing this, Yao Ran frowned slightly and fell silent.

Seeing her reaction, Jia Xiang said reassuringly, "Don't worry about them. Sooner or later, we will find out what they are up to. When we were still in the army, the three of them also liked to be secretive and not tell me or other brothers until the time was right."

Yao Ran nodded and smiled faintly, "Mhm."

After speaking with Jia Xiang, Yao Ran decided to wait for Long Yu to tell her what was going

on.
