[System Notification: New Quest Received!]

Kace stared at the flurry of notifications in shock. This was not what he had been expecting at all. At first, he was horrified when it told him that there were no classes available. However, that took a turn when it offered to generate suitable classes based on his own choices. He even got a quest to do it! 'This is my lucky day!' There was one thing that worried him. 'An Error Log? Who's in charge of the system's source?'

Kace was rightfully worried. Did it mean that he would essentially be providing his enemies with information? So far, the system had seemed to be safe to use. However, he was certain that the God who created the system would get alerted if an error was reported. 'There's nothing I can do about it for now. Let's see the quest.'

[Quest: First of your Species]

[Details: As the first of your species, you do not have the benefit of relying on the discoveries of those who came before you. As such, you are the pivotal pioneer of your race in Class Development. Your creations will be available for future generations who come after you.]

[Rewards: +1 Level]

Kace's eyes went wide when he saw the reward. 'It's basically a gift-wrapped level.' He chuckled. Since he was already in the middle of creating the class, the extra level was already a done deal. 'I think it's a bit too optimistic about future generations of my race, though. Now let's see about these parameters'

[Number of Classes To Create: 3]

[Due To Your Current Level There Are Restrictions In Place]

[Step One: Select Two Available Races To Hybridise The Core Of Your Class. (Select Three Combinations)]

[Races Detected Available For This Step: Human, Goblin, Hero, Eljein, Hydra, Salamander.]

'Hmm, seems like the Wolf and Spider chains don't match up to standards.' This bummed Kace out a bit. These two chains had been helpful to him throughout his journey so far. Now the system was outright telling him that he had basically outgrown them despite the utility they still brought him.

'Ok, three combinations, huh?' Kace thought about it for a while. His style just now was something like a dark battlemage or paladin. However, he also had a lot of success when he used the assassin type style. 'I should focus on making one of each of them and for the third, try and come up with something in between. My current style still isn't flexible enough.'

For the first option that would attempt to upgrade his current style, he chose to mix the Hydra and Salamander. 'I need to phase out the human elements as much as possible if I want to maximise the benefits of being a monster. Both the Hydra and Salamander excel in both physical and magical abilities. Making them perfect candidates.'

His second option was to create a better stealth/agile oriented class. For this, he chose to mix the Goblin and Hydra. 'Goblins are generally best used in a stealth role anyway. While the Hydra's poison will complement the style.'

His third option was to try and hybridise his previous two selections. This was to try and create an all-rounder. He had already experienced the pros and cons of each style. They always left him feeling lacking in some area. For this, he went against his own judgement and chose to mix the Hero and Hydra options. 'It might not be the best at anything in a head-on fight. However, it will definitely have plenty of options.'

[Choices Logged. Confirm? Y/N?]

'Yes.'

[Generating Base Classes]

[Please Select A Class]

[Option 1: Chimera Dragonguard]

[Details: Optimised by the hybridisation of two genetic descendants of the Dragon Race. Combining the two brings you one step closer to being a true dragon! +200 HP, +300 MP]

[Option 2: Chimera Darkwalker]

[Details: Optimised for clandestine activities through the hybridisation of the Goblin and Hydra race. Your enemies should be afraid of the dark! Very afraid! +200 MP, +300 AP]

[Option 3: Chimera Plagueknight]

[Details: Optimised to find a solution to any problem through the hybridisation of the Hero and Hydra race. This class strongly embodies the underlying principles of a Chimera! +200 HP, +150 AP, +150 MP]

[Class unique spells will modify the current spells/abilities of the Hexblade class to suit each class.]

Kace carefully studied the results of his choices. However, he lamented that he could not find out the class unique skills until he made his choice. 'What effects will it have on Empower and Half-Life? They're already powerful and great as they are. I don't really want to lose them.' He was surprised by the information he received from the first option.

'Dragons are extinct in this world. However, this hints that if I shape my DNA chains and class around their descendants, I could become a real dragon in the future.' Kace thought about it for a while. 'While it's tempting, I have to say no. They've already been defeated by the heroes, so I need to become something far stronger.'

Kace instantly dismissed option two. It seemed too lacklustre and one dimensional. While it would be useful if he was still alone, that was no longer the case. It had not been that way for a long time. Now he was looking to take part in larger battles in the future. While the Chimera Dragonguard would excel in these battlefields, it also left him open to fast and stealthy opponents.

'Not only that, but even the system is hinting that option three is my best path forward. Is it hinting that a Chimera should be aiming to dominate in all three fields?' Kace thought about it for a while but decided that should not really be the intention. 'Basically, a chimera is extremely flexible. If I focused in a single direction and optimised my DNA in that way, then I would probably be unstoppable in that field. It's probably being influenced by my own prejudices of wanting something of everything.'

Since the System was suggesting it, then it should be highly compatible with him. Plus, he kind of liked the name of Chimera Plagueknight. It hinted that the class would be heavily reliant on the Hydra's abilities to poison its opponents. 'It'll be like unleashing chemical warfare on my enemies.' Kace chuckled as a vicious grin spread across his face. Without further ado, he made his choice.

[You have selected Chimera Plagueknight. Confirm selection. Y/N?]

'Yes!'

[Choice confirmed. Class set as Chimera Plagueknight. Modifying Class Unique Spells. Modification Complete. Continuing to Step Two.]

[Step Two. Please select three of your current spells to modify into base spells for your class.]

[Spells Available: Spider Thread, Ice Spear, Flame Spit, Stampede]

[Current Class Base Spells Will Undergo Modification]

Kace was taken aback by this. Not only would his current normal Hexblade spells be modified to work with his new class. He was even being given a chance to incorporate and modify some of his spells. 'I have four choices which would mean I need to leave one out. Stampede is already great for closing the distance with my opponents. Since I don't know how they will be affected, I should leave that one be for now.'

[You have chosen: Spider Thread, Ice Spear and Flame Spit. Confirm. Y/N?]

'Yes.' Kace eventually confirmed these choices. They were all great already, but he could not deny that they sorely need an upgraded. He hoped that he would receive a decent upgrade to their combat potential.

[Modifying Choices. Modification Complete.]

[Congratulations! You have received: Venomous Thread, Plague Spear and Corrosive Spit!]

[Class Creation Complete.]

[Quest Notification: First Of Your Species Complete]

[Awarding +1 Level]

[Congratulations! You have reached Level 12!]

Kace chuckled to himself as he felt the growth of his attributes once again. Once again, all of his stats received about a ten per cent growth. He grinned when he felt the changes going through his body. 'I've taken another step forward. There's still a long way to go, though.' He was thrilled with this reward. After all, his growth had been stagnant for a long time, but then he gained two levels shortly after each other.

'If only I could keep up this growth rate. It's not exactly easy. It feels like it's pushing me to put myself in danger and to focus on killing as much as possible.' Kace partially wished that there had been some way to gain experience through crafting or something. However, the system never obliged him with that option.

Kace had the feeling that the system did not want him to hide away in a hole and slowly grow his strength. 'There's not much I can do about it anyway. It's not like the Heroes will sit back and let us develop even if I could do it. I'll need to ask Elderbeard to make the arrangements for my journey North.' Now that he had completed what he had set out do, he had to fulfil his promise to Sophia.

He rubbed his hands with glee as he turned his attention back to the system. 'Let's take a look at these new skills'
