Chapter 413: Chapter 414: Kneeling in Penalty (2)

“Shut up.” Master Qin shouted.

It’s one thing for men to fight in private, but being beaten to the ground is nothing short of embarrassing and laughable.

“You two kneel here until you recognize your mistakes. And no one is to bring them food until they do,” he commanded.

Wrapping up his declaration with a cough, Master Qin grumbled, “Dinner time, and I haven’t eaten because of these two nitwits. Serve the food!”

With his command, the servants efficiently scurried to prepare. Located adjacent to the living room was the dining room. Earlier, Qin Zhiyou had been fine, but once the scent of food wafted in – it reminded him very much how hungry he was.

During his busier periods at work, he could withstand hunger for an extended period. However, right now, without any work, the hunger was indeed unbearable.

The case was the same for Qin Zhigu next to him. He was beaten even worse. After a few brutal hits from Master Qin, it was uncomfortable to maintain a kneeling position, let alone care about his image while starving.

Worse still, Master Qin ordered dinner to be served. The meal was far from savored due to his anger while the third room, having caught wind of the situation, would occasionally glance back, finding amusement in the spectacle. Kong Jie intended to speak for her son, Qin Zhigu – he had scrapes on his body that needed treatment. But Qin Weijian, fully understanding his father’s temper, held her back.

Among everyone present, it was probably just Lu Weixi eating her meal calmly, as if nothing was happening.

Seeing her so nonchalant, Qin Zhimei scoffed, “Big sister-in-law, you’ve got quite the nerve, enjoying your food while your husband is being punished.”

Finishing her bowl of rice and placing her chopsticks down, Lu Weixi chewed her food completely before lifting her head stoically, “One should not speak while eating or sleeping.”

This was a house rule of the Qin family. You’re not done eating yet and here you are, chit-chatting as if it’s a marketplace.

However, she added, “I don’t see you treating your older brother with such respect usually. It seems it takes adversity to reveal true feelings.”

Weixi turned it around, implying she was being respectful and filial, leaving Qin Zhimei speechless.

Disorder in the household was the last thing Master Qin wanted when his sons were still kneeling as a punishment for fighting. Verbal confrontations were one thing, but at this critical juncture, she couldn’t put herself in the path of his wrath again.

However, after dinner, even Qin Zhizha could not resist a tease, “I hear the fight between our eldest and second brothers was because of our esteemed sister-in-law.”

Lu Weixi had chosen Qin Zhiyou over Qin Zhigu. Even though anyone with clear eyes could see that Qin Zhigu was the one who had been unfaithful in the first place, society was unfair – lenient to men and harsh on women. Qin Zhigu’s cheating was spun as a “last-minute choice” before the wedding, while Lu Weixi quickly moving on to Qin Zhiyou was interpreted as a slap in the face in retaliation.

Over the years, they had frequently jest about this, but usually, it wouldn’t reach the ears of the old man.

Regardless, the fact that Qin Zhiyou and Qin Zhigu were still kneeling there was not lost on everyone. When Qin Zhizha dragged Lu Weixi into the fray, both men were visibly upset. Qin Zhiyou was the first to yell, “Qin Zhizha- – Shut up!”

“Qin Zhiyou, continue kneeling,” was the command from Master Qin, and Qin Zhiyou was forced to live out his punishment.

Master Qin was massaging his temples in annoyance. He had already asked about the reasons for the fight and couldn’t help but be speechless. Now that Lu Weixi was married to his eldest son, their past shouldn’t matter. However, this Qin Zhiyou was a headache, always causing a commotion outside just like his father!

He didn’t quite understand. His eldest grandson was evidently madly in love with his wife to the point of excess, so why create such a commotion?
