Loving Madeline

Chapter 302 I Love You, Hunter

Madeline's POV

My near-death experience made me realize life is too precious, and I felt guilty I lost special moments with my husband by being cold to him. I waited for his reply, but I haven't received anything, and I felt so scared of losing Hunter.

"It is my fault," I mumbled to myself, and I let out a soft sigh as I picked up my phone again.

I became frustrated that I hadn't received anything from my husband; and for making him feel unwanted. I always wished to be near my husband, and God knows how much I miss him.

"You are causing your own problem, Maddie. You have your husband here with you, yet you ignored him like he didn't exist, and worst, you make him feel unimportant even if deep inside your heart you were dying to kiss and hug him." I heard Gina say as I stared at my phone.

I slowly raised my head and found her standing near my bed with arms crossed over her chest, and she was looking at me with a look that I was so familiar with, and I knew I made her unhappy.

"I know, I missed him like crazy, Gina, and the guilt I felt was eating me up." I responded, and she stared at me for a long time.

"He loves you, Maddie, and you knew it wasn't your fault; it was all Clark's idea to kill you in the first place; you don't need to worry, okay? Hunter will never hate or condemn you." Gina replied as she came closer and sat on my bed.

"Let it go," my best friend added as she held my hand.

"I texted him, but he didn't reply," I responded before I released a soft sigh.

"Now, you wanted him to be with you; you are making me crazy." She replied.

"I am sorry, Gina," I softly responded.

"Don't worry; he will be back before you know it, don't call him; he is busy at the moment trying to fix things in your company. He wanted to fly back to be with you." My best friend declared as I looked at her with a quizzical look.

"You don't need to give me that look, Maddie, he didn't text me, but I guess I trust your husband more than you do." She replied, and my face fell as I averted her gaze.

"When he returns, I will make sure he will know that I am so in love with him; I am sorry for what I have done after what happened to me. I know I made him worry, but instead, I made him feel worst by being insensitive to his feelings." I declared.

"At least you know what to do," she responded as she tried to hide her smile.

"Of course, Hunter Divenson is still my husband, and I am still his wife; I have all the right to fight for him," I replied with a wide grin, and she stood up and opened the blinds of my room so I could see some light.

I wished to go home and spend time with my son and Hunter during the day, and when night came, I wanted to be in my husband's arms and listen to him as he whispered sweet nothings in my ear.

"Wow, I always love it when you smile, Maddie; you can light up even the darkest room in the world." Gina said as she beamed at me.

"I needed to go to the cafeteria to buy something. Would it be alright if I leave you alone?" She asked, and I nodded my head.

"Of course, I can always ring the nurse station," I replied, and she walked out of my room without taking a second glance, and I watched the bright sky through the window with a smile feeling hopeful that my husband would come.

"I didn't expect you would be back right away, Gina?" I asked with a smile as I heard her approaching footsteps, and my heart fluttered with too much happiness when I turned around, and found my husband walking towards me.

"I couldn't wait to see you, my love," he said as he neared me, and I could feel the loud beating of my heart as he sat and cupped my face.

I was speechless, and I could feel the butterflies swarming in my belly as I looked at his handsome face. I could smell his aftershave, and his familiar intoxicating scent made my knees weak.

"I am so," my words died on my lips as I felt his mouth on mine, and my pulse was racing as he claimed my lips. My husband kissed me with tenderness, and I was the one who kissed him with urgency, and I love how he responds to my every kiss. I could feel the tears on my cheeks as he pulled me closer to him.

"I love you, Madeline," Hunter whispered in my ear after he released my mouth, and then he kissed my forehead.

"I love you more, and I am sorry, my love," I said as he dried my tears with his fingers.

"No need for saying sorry, my love; I thought I would never hear you say those magic words again," Hunter replied tenderly as I put my head on his chest after he sat beside me; I felt so happy in his arms, and I wished we were in our bedroom in Neospoli.

"Not in a million years, Hunter; I will never get tired of saying I love you," I replied with a smile on my lips.

"Welcome back, Madeline," my husband responded as he beamed at me after he kissed my forehead.

"I missed you so much," I said as I touched his strong biceps, and he was smiling at me showcasing his perfect white teeth.

"I thought I was about to lose you, my love; I was scared," Hunter said, and I put my finger on his lips as I shook my head.

"I felt the same way, Hunter. I wished to kiss and hug you, yet the guilt I felt was so strong that I ended up hating myself for what happened not only to your father but to Parker." I responded.

"Shh, Maddie, none of those things are your fault, we fell in love, and there is nothing wrong with that; my dad was against us; he became evil, and he used my siblings against me." Hunter replied.

"I felt glad Parker took our side, and now, I am worried about my sister." He added as I could see the worries on his handsome face.

"Rebecca will do something that will harm our family, and I knew she was angry with us, especially after what happened to father; she felt betrayed by dad when he saved you." My husband declared.

"I need to stop her, or else we will never find peace in our lives." He said and let out a heavy sigh.

"My love, I don't think she can harm us, just let her go," I replied.

"And give Charlotte a chance to kill you? Not a chance, Maddie; I don't care where to find her, I have to locate my sister; I am scared of losing you, my love," Hunter declared, and I took his hand.

"Hey, I am not going anywhere, and I will always be here for you, Hunter," I whispered.

"Are you sure about that? The last time I checked, you made me feel I don't exist," he responded.

"I didn't know what came over me; maybe it was because of the medicine I received, but I want you to know you are not losing me, Hunter. I am so sorry, my love, for making you feel that way." I replied, and I could no longer stop myself from crying, and he pulled me closer to him.

"Stop saying sorry, my love; it wasn't your fault, okay? If that is what you want, then I have to let my sister go and triple the security; I don't want to make the same mistake again." He said.

I enjoyed the feeling in my husband's arms, and if the doctor didn't get inside, I am sure we are still hugging each other.

"Hunter, I am happy I can finally give Madeline the discharge order. All her latest lab tests were good, there were no implications of infections, and your wife is free to go." The doctor said. I knew he was a friend of Hunter's mom.

"You need more rest, Maddie; avoid strenuous activities; for the time being, you must come back after two weeks for a follow-up check-up in my clinic." He continued as he looked at me with a beautiful smile on his face.

"Thank you so much, doctor, for saving my life," I responded.

"It was my pleasure, Mrs. Divenson; Hunter is like a son to me," he said and tapped my husband's shoulder.

I got discharged, and we came home to our mansion, the house my husband built for me in Archois.

It felt like a long time ago that I hadn't visited the place. Memories flashed back in my mind vividly, both beautiful and ugly memories.

I couldn't stop myself from looking at the nursery, tears flowed like waterfalls on my cheek as I stared at the things Hunter bought for our future son at that time, and it was the day I realized he fell in love with me and I discovered, Rebecca was alive.

"Hey, what made you upset, my love?" Hunter asked as he dried my tears with his fingers.

"I just realized how much I love you, Hunter," I replied, and he smiled as I could see a tear fall on his handsome face.

"I love you more, Madeline; I am grateful that you are alive, and God gave me another chance to love you more each day." He responded before he captured my mouth, and we shared another mind-blowing kiss that covered my entire body with goosebumps. The anticipation of what would happen next made my stomach flutter with excitement. I knew we would be making love.
