Life didn't get easier, even in another world

Chapter 222

222 Drip Drop

The Fifth glared at Alan. He smiled at the confused man who was restraining all of his movements.

“Sorry, but it won’t work on me a second time!”

ZAAAAPPP

A red electric current flashed in the air.

“Ah!”

With a gasp, Alan took one step back.

“What-”

He, as well as everyone else, was staring at the red electric current that was moving around The Fifth.

“Hahahaha!”

.....

The Fifth laughed as if he was having a lot of fun at the moment.

“Look at your faces! Pffft!”

In front of everyone’s eyes, the man that had been unable to move even a single finger moved his body and stood up. While dusting his clothes, he smirked at Alan but instead of reacting to his annoying smirk, Alan was only staring at the thing that the man was wearing on his finger.

ZAAAPPP

ZAAAPPPPP

A red electric current was whirling around the ring on the man’s finger. The ring was glowing red and an ominous aura was oozing out from it.

“Why are you...”

Alan’s eyes turned sharp.

“Where did you get that thing?”

“Heh! Hahahaha!”

The Fifth only continued to laugh.

“Move back...”

Sensing the bizarreness of the situation and feeling the discomfort on Alan’s face, Kain ordered his subordinates to move away from The Fifth. While the agents were moving away from the man, Kairen also sneaked toward Kain and completely hid behind Alan and Reyan.

“Fool!”

Kairen ignored Reyan quietly cursing him and only focused on casting some spells without taking his eyes off of the ring on The Fifth’s finger.

The ring looked the same.

Kairen was far away from the man, but he could dearly see the symbols and the carvings on the ring. They were the same ones as Kain’s bracelet.

‘Another ancient artifact?’

Kairen glanced at Alan. Seeing Alan’s expression, it seemed that Kairen’s thoughts were true.

Moreover...

‘Those electric currents...’

They looked exactly the same as the ones he had seen when he fought with the soil dude, except for the fact that these electric currents didn’t have the purple mixed in them.

Also, the soil dude didn’t have anything like those artifacts. The only strange thing he was carrying was a small white stone.

-Sir!

It was at that moment that an urgent voice talked to them through the communication device.

-We’ve found the bomb in the central bank! It was in the main safe of the bank!

-The building is completely evacuated and the citizens living in the vicinity of the bank are also being guided somewhere else.

Kain, as well as the others who could also hear the news, all tensed up.

-What should we do now, sir?

“...”

Kain was still silently staring at The Fifth.

-Should we move the bomb-

“No!”

He cut off the man’s sentence.

“Report everything to the deputy commander and retreat.”

-Yes, sir.

“OH!”

The Fifth raised his eyebrows.

“You guys sure are quick, huh?”

Tap

The Fifth took one step towards the agents as he rose his hand to the air.

ONGGGG

Something vibrated in the air, right above the man’s open palm.

‘Is it one of those...’

For some odd reason, Kairen was reminded of a certain annoying attack. The move that The First used when they fought to shoot sharp aura daggers toward everyone.

‘But this...’

ZAAAPP

CRACKLE

The red electric currents were getting mixed up in the huge invisible aura orb on the man’s palm.

“DOWN!”

At the same time that Kaien cast his shields, Reyan pushed Kairen down with one hand and raised his sword with the other.

BAAAANNNGGGG

The orb exploded.

SLASH

The small fragments first broke through Kairen’s shields, then hit the water barrier Kain had created.

“Ugh!”

“Oww!”

Most of the fragments were blocked but the few ones that managed to pass through the water barrier cut the skin of the agents and dug into their flesh.

Kairen lowered his arms that he had covered his head with to protect himself. There were a few new scratches on them and he was bleeding, but that wasn’t a big deal.

“Damn it!”

Alan cursed as he clenched his bleeding side. Blood was dripping down through his fingers and his face was getting pale.

‘Why didn’t he stop it?!’

Couldn’t he stop the fragments? If stopping all of them was too much, he could at least stop the one that was aimed at him!

In the first place, why couldn’t he hold the man down after he started to use that ring?

Kairen got up and walked to Alan’s side. As if he already knew why Kairen was moving towards him, Alan spoke through gritted teeth.

“My power won’t work on...”

He glanced at The Fifth who was also staring back at him.

“...On the things influenced by the power of those things...”

ZAAAPPP

CRACKLEEE

“Now!”

Before the injured agents could move, The Fifth moved his hand again. This time he wasn’t holding an aura bomb in his palm. He clenched his fist as if grabbing the air and then moved his hand.

.....

SLASH

The air was cut where his hand moved.

“Tell me where you’ve learned about the bombs.”

He moved the invisible aura blade towards the closest agent to him.

“Who told you about them? Hm?”

The agent trembled in fear and peeked at the leader of the group, Kain.

Drip

A small scar appeared on the agent’s neck due to that slight movement.

“Gasp!”

The agent, who was already injured and was bleeding, gasped and looked back at The Fifth.

“Your fate is already clear with that tickling bomb inside that building. I promise I will give you an easier death if you answer my question.”

Drip

Drip

Water dripped down to the ground.

Drip

Drip

The sudden rain started to wet the ground already soaked in blood little by little.

“Stay back.”

And someone’s fierce voice broke the silence of the area.

“Hmm?”

The Fifth turned towards the source of the voice with his calm and confident face.

“I said-”

ONNGGG

A blue light shone and something vibrated a little bit.

“-Step back!”

SLAMMMM

And once again, a blur of blue slammed the man’s back.

This time, stronger and faster than before.

“Gah!”

The Fifth was forced to go down on his knees.

“Gasp!”

And the agent he had been threatening with his sword was also pulled back by another agent at the same time.

-Sir.

SLAAAMMM

The whip moved again and slammed The Fifth. The man raised his sword, blocking the whip aimed at his neck.

The force of the attack was so much that the ground under the man cracked and small debris scattered around, but The Fifth was still fine and unharmed.

“Haha!”

He peeked at the bracelet that was now as blue as the sky and was shining so brightly it was hard to look at it.

-We’ve found the other two bombs.

“Indeed!”

The Fifth nodded his head as he swing his sword.

SLASH

One part of the water whip was cut down with that small movement.

Crackle

ZZAAAP

The red electric currents were now moving around the tip of his sword.

-They were exactly at the buildings that you’d told us, sir.

“These things indeed are different after choosing a master.”

-We’ve found where the two bombs are. The deputy commander had ordered us to retreat.

BANGGG

The sword collided with a water wall and bounced off. As the man turned around, a water arrow cut his cheek and hit the ground behind him.

“Tsk!”

He jumped back, avoiding the other water arrows aimed at him.

ZAAPPP

More red electric currents gathered around his sword. His once invisible sword was now completely distinguishable as it was covered with red lines.

ONGGGG

The bracelet quivered and shone more and more. As it shone, the eyes of the man wearing the artifact also started to glow. The man’s eyes had a faint glow of blue in them just the same color as the bracelet.

“Kain!”

Kairen didn’t receive an answer from Kain.

-There is not much time left, sir. The deputy commander wants you back here.

There were only ten minutes left.

“Kain!”

This time, Kairen rushed towards Kain who didn’t seem to have heard his voice or the news.

BANGGG

The Fifth also rushed towards him while holding up his sword.

SLASH

His sword slashed the water lade aimed at him and then the blade moved towards his opponent’s neck.

Kain also raised his hand. Once again, he moved the water whip towards the man.

SLAM

But none of their attacks reached the other.

“Hey!”

Kairen grabbed Kain from the back of his collar and pulled him back.

“Snap out of it!”

SLAM

“What the hell!”

The Fifth moved his sword again, but his second attack was blocked by some silver-golden cracks again.

“Hey! Kain!”

Slapp

Kairen slapped the dazed man’s cheek.

“Ah?”

The blue glow faded from Kain’s eyes and the water whip lost its shape.

Drip

Drip

Blood dripped down his nose.

Drop

Drop

And the rain poured down on everyone.
