Chapter 32 Qin Shuman Blunders

Hearing Qiu Tu's words, Qin Shuman laughed so hard she was falling backwards and forwards. She then reached out to hook her fingers under Qiu Tu's chin, looking at him with an alluring yet dangerous gaze, and breathed out softly, "Well, Agent Qiu really doesn't know me too well, does he."

Qiu Tu's brows furrowed slightly as he pondered the meaning behind Qin Shuman's words. He always felt that Qin Shuman seemed to have revealed a very important piece of information, but he couldn't quite make sense of it at the moment.

At this time, however, Qin Shuman didn't give Qiu Tu more time to think.

She seemed to sense something amiss and poured herself a glass of cold water.

With the cold water down, her eyes cleared slightly, and the dangerous aura about her abated considerably.

Then she slowly reverted to her usual innocent demeanor, "By the way, what brings you here so late? Is there something you need?"

After speaking, she looked worriedly at Qiu Tu, "It can't be that Yan Chen has started trouble again…"

Qiu Tu's gaze swept over her, and while taking a sip of alcohol, he said with a deep look in his eyes, "Yes, Yan Chen has stirred up trouble again."

He said, "Actually, after coming to the Qin Family, I guard by your side during the day, but at night I've been going around gathering intelligence."

"And believe it or not, after these past two days of investigation, I've really found some leads."

Hearing Qiu Tu's words, Qin Shuman was momentarily stunned, then propped up her cheek curiously and asked, "What leads?"

Qiu Tu's eyes were sharp as he said decisively, "I've found that the Qin Family might indeed be in collusion with the military and the Anti-Government Army!"

As he said this, Qiu Tu's gaze was fixed intently on Qin Shuman. He clearly saw her slender waist suddenly tense up.

"Oh? Is that so? Have you found any evidence?" Qin Shuman asked indifferently.

Qiu Tu's brow furrowed slightly, "I actually found some. So I reported to Yan Chen requesting reinforcements and called in a team of Political Department Investigators to conduct a secret investigation."

"Who knew that Yan Chen, trying to trip me up, would let that team of investigators enter the Qin Family openly!"

At this point, Qiu Tu pounded the table in frustration, "The Qin Family is not stupid; this is completely startling the snake."

After speaking, Qiu Tu downcastly took another drink

Meanwhile, Qin Shuman, as if struck by a thought, took a pensive sip of water and asked, "So what do you plan to do now?"

Qiu Tu continued drinking, "What else can I do? Keep investigating."

Qin Shuman kept drinking water, "And where do you plan to start?"

And so the two of them chatted, one drink following another.

They didn't know how long they drank or how long they talked…n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

Just when Qin Shuman was getting a clearer picture of Qiu Tu's plans. Suddenly! She felt a large hand clamp on her waist.

That instant, she was startled and quickly turned to look at Qiu Tu.

Only to find that the previously sober Qiu Tu, perhaps because of the alcohol, was now looking at her with drunken eyes, his gaze containing something untouchable…

She pressed down the hand that was trying to lift the hem of her skirt in a panicked whisper, "Qiu, Qiu Tu, the servants are still outside!"

At this moment, Qiu Tu's eyes were drowsy with drink, and his handsome face was flushed with intoxication. He leaned in close to Qin Shuman's ear and murmured, "Be good... cover your mouth, and no one will know."

"Besides... I just want to exchange some information with you."

As he spoke, his breath tickled Qin Shuman's ear, warm and raising goosebumps…

....

.....

Half an hour later, Qin Shuman, with her waist feeling weak, leaned against the bar, clutching her skirt, her face showing a mix of embarrassment and annoyance as she watched Qiu Tu's retreating figure, muttering nonstop, "Bastard, he's just a complete bastard!"

As Qiu Tu fastened his belt, his bleary eyes squinting, he pushed open the door and stumbled out of the small bar, his hand inexplicably marked with several deep, crimson bite wounds...

The waiting maid outside detected nothing amiss; she glanced at Qiu Tu and curtly bowed.

Qiu Tu nodded at her, then slurred, "Miss Shuman is also drunk and can hardly walk. Help her back to her room to rest."

"Yes."

The maid pushed the door and entered the bar, while Qiu Tu wobbled out of Qin Shuman's courtyard.

However, the moment he stepped out of the courtyard, his pace gradually steadied and his drunken eyes slowly became sober and deep.

'Drinking really does lead to mistakes.'

'Regrettably, not for me, but for Qin Shuman...'

'She's been pretending for so long, yet today, she let her guard down a bit too much after drinking...'

'Although we're in the same boat now, there's still a slight difference in our positions.'

'For instance... proving that the Qin Family really colluded with the military and the Anti-government Armed Forces benefits only me, not her.'

"Because, once I gather enough evidence, I can solidify the lies and betray both her and the Qin Family."

"Under such circumstances, she isn't worried about how to keep herself safe after I find the evidence. Instead, she's concerned about where I'll start my investigation. This is highly inconsistent with her persona..."

'It seems my intuition is correct: there's indeed something off about her identity.'

'Now that the bait has been cast, I just have to wait for the contacts to reveal themselves, and then I'll know who Qin Shuman is really working for...'

'I can also figure out why they've been pestering me incessantly...'

Thinking this way, Qiu Tu felt the fog that had clouded his vision since his transmigration begin to disperse somewhat, and he could almost make out the outline of the truth...

...

Upon returning to the Security Team's base, Cao Dabiao had been waiting for quite a while.

When Cao Dabiao saw Qiu Tu arriving belatedly, he glared at him, his voice almost squeezed out through his teeth, "The officer's official duties must be very busy. Your subordinate has been waiting here for several hours."

Qiu Tu didn't care and didn't even respond to Cao Dabiao's remarks.

He sauntered over and took a seat, then seamlessly shifted the subject, "Brother Biao, how old are you this year?"

Cao Dabiao couldn't keep up with Qiu Tu's erratic line of thought, but he still answered, "35."

Qiu Tu uttered an "Oh," took a sip of tea, then looked up and asked, "I remember there's no significant Cao family or the head of an organization with the Cao surname in the entire Xinjie City, right?"

Cao Dabiao's gaze flickered slightly, he did not reply directly.

Qiu Tu set his teacup aside and tapped his fingers lightly on the table, "Temporary agents earn a monthly wage of 300 Copper Yuan, Third-Level Detectives get 1 Silver Yuan plus 500 Copper Yuan, Second-Class Investigators 3 Silver Yuan, and First Level Detectives 8 Silver Yuan."

"Xinjie City has been established for a year, the Political Department has only been in operation for half a year; after deducting daily expenses, how much savings could you have? 30 Silver Yuan?"

Cao Dabiao opened his mouth as if to say something, but in the end, he closed it again.

Seeing this, Qiu Tu went into the inner room, brought out the box containing the funds for this operation, and placed it on the table, revealing the gleaming Silver Yuan inside.

He settled back into his seat and spoke leisurely, "I'm 21 years old this year, the same rank as you, with the support from high-ranking Sanctuary officials above and the backing of the Bureau Chief below."

"Young, wealthy, powerful, and also your superior. What can you possibly gain by going against me?"

"Even if you do manage to cause me some trouble, once I get promoted in a few months, dealing with you will be a piece of cake, won't it?"
