Chapter 752: Chapter 457: Star Fortress Ship【4200 Words】_1

An old question resurfaced in front of Harrison Clark.

To fight?

Or not to fight?

Since almost a hundred years ago, when he first left Earth, this question had been troubling him.

Given Harrison’s nature, of course, he wasn’t willing to stand idly by; he could only find clarity in rushing into the battleground.

But he found a way to justify himself: he needed to gather information and couldn’t die too early.

During these hundred years, he accumulated vast knowledge in his mind, saved Freddy’s life, and made rapid progress, digging up the Egyptian tribe’s warship, developing the Warp Battle Armor, and eventually destroying the Spherical Battleship by himself.

Harrison had memorized a considerable amount of cosmology knowledge.

Firstly, the coordinates of the Life Galaxy and the Miracle Galaxy, as well as a vast number of habitable or transformable galaxies that had already been developed and utilized by humans, would greatly accelerate the development and expansion of the Orion Arm humans in the next timeline.

Secondly, those carefully-selected and integrated pieces of cosmology-related knowledge allowed the human descendants in the Solar System to study the universe without even leaving their homes, both before and after the advent of the Solar Dome.

The progress of technology within the Solar System would also accelerate once more.

Thirdly, he had noted the coordinates of the Egyptian tribe’s warship and knew how to excavate their Brain Core while remembering Freddy’s design scheme for the Warp Battle Armor and the thought process of deducing the Z Bacteria genetic information based on protein structure.

So, at the very least, next time he could try to dig up the warship and create the Warp Battle Armor by himself upon his arrival.

Fourthly, Freddy even understood the ZS Bacteria; while this understanding may not be of much practical use, it was better than dying utterly clueless.

The results of these hundred years of lurking were a testament to the correctness of his seemingly selfish and self-serving choices.

Now the situation had entered a new phase.

He could no longer deceive himself and become numb with the need for preparation, as he had to silently ignore the basis of his decision not to engage in battle, simply because he couldn’t see any “acquaintances” or those he truly cared about.

There was no time left now.

The same excuses no longer held water.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Yet the paradox persisted.

He genuinely didn’t know what would be the best course of action.

He wasn’t someone who shied away from responsibility.

His hiding wasn’t solely due to selfishness; it was actually driven by his greed.

It wasn’t selfish greed but the necessary greed he felt on behalf of his entire race when confronted with the survival of their civilization.

In his dreams, he wished to find a better choice, one that could fight for more benefits for his civilization, make all the lives in this timeline more meaningful, and allow Freddy to achieve his ultimate ideals, even at the cost of disappointing the expectations of everyone in this timeline and becoming a cowardly sinner and a “traitor” who had abandoned countless believers in their hearts; he could bear that.

Therefore, it might not really be selfishness.

If Harrison were to participate in the battle now with Freddy, according to Scarlett and his own estimates, he could only delay the two-month deadline for annihilation to three months, which would still not be enough time for Freddy to complete the Planting Battleship.

But if he continued to hide, and after two months only he remained as a human from the Orion Arm, the Compound-Eyed Observer fleet would undoubtedly begin hunting him down with full force.

How long could he run for?

Would the Compound-Eyed Observers be able to swiftly uncover the secrets of the Gelasians and infiltrate the subspace medium layer by continuing to infiltrate and absorb information from the Orion Arm?

These things were still unknown.

However, there was a possibility that after returning to human society with Freddy, the latter could collide intellectually with other top scientists, inspiring new ideas and develop an even larger research institution. Even if the progress of Planting Battleship technology was slowed down, other breakthrough technologies might emerge, perhaps delaying humanity’s demise a little?

Or perhaps there were some individuals within the remaining research forces of the Orion Arm humans whose intelligence was just as impressive as Freddy’s. If Freddy acted as a catalyst and was placed among them, could a more potent effect be achieved, resulting in the faster completion of the Planting Battleship?

Harrison genuinely did not know.

A thick fog veiled his sight, constantly.

This fog was so dense that he could no longer discern the way forward.

There were too many possibilities in the course of history, and each of Harrison’s choices could lead to innumerable variables and branches. As a result of his pondering, it seemed that no matter what he chose, there was no standard answer.

Many people thought that absolutely calm and rational individuals would quickly make decisions when facing a dilemma and would never hesitate.

But this was utterly wrong.

The calmer and more independent a person was, the more information they would gather when making a decision, the more factors they would consider, and the more complex the situation would appear. Rationality did not necessarily help in making decisions faster or more accurate.

It was emotions, not logic, that drove humans to act decisively without hesitation.

Only emotions could propel one to gamble even when knowingly making a mistake.

Harrison used to be an old gambler, but this time, he hadn’t found the emotional fulcrum to free himself from the confusion born out of greed.

After pondering for a long time, Harrison jumped out of the medical cabin, sighing.

During his recent contemplation, he had analyzed an enormous flow of information at an astonishing pace. As a result, he hadn’t reached a conclusion, and his mind felt dizzy.
