Chapter 293: King Arthur (1)

Chapter 293: King Arthur (1)

As Aquarius helped the girl's wound heal, the poison struck in her blood was cleansed by Ed. After she was rescued, they placed her in the kitchen table and waited for her to regain her consciousness.

"I feel an intense concentration of magic in her legs," Aquarius assessed. "She's a Stealth Knight, no doubt about that. But there's something in her that doesn't seem to match up."

"She had upgraded to a Rogue," Elliot said. "Her class is currently a Rogue, if that's what you meant."

"No," Aquarius narrowed his eyes. "Lance, touch her forehead and tell me that you feel that too."

Lance did as was told and placed his hand on the sleeping girl's forehead. He retracted his hands the moment his skin touched hers, eyes widening and looking at his cousin in utter shock. "Aquarius, what is this?"

"She's been Hexed," Aquarius said. Looking at the boys around him with confused expressions, Aquarius sighed. "Hex is a variety of Curse, but deals long lasting and even sometimes unidentifiable damage."

"What's the difference?" Elliot asked. "I feel like they're both the same."

"There's a huge difference between them," Aquarius replied. "A curse is an instant hit like burning or poison, but the a hex would deal either small and consistent amount of damage or"

Aquarius trailed off and gestured his fingers for Ed to come closer. He narrowed his eyes and leaned in closer to the girl, instructing Ed to brandish his sword and Aquarius to guide him where to put it.

The blue-haired man gripped the blade and placed it below the woman's chest where the first rib was. "She missed the stab."

With a slight push, Aquarius slowly pierced Ed's sword right in Katarina's flesh. Everyone gasped in shock but his stoic, curious expression remained plastered on his face. "A fake Faint was placed right over here. Ed, do it."

Ed nodded, "Nullify."

Just as the dark purple mist slowly trailed down from his sword, Katarina's unconscious body trembled. There was a cloud of darkness came that out from her wound. The cloud hovered over the inn's kitchen, steaks of lightning lit it up like an actual cloud.

"Giverechie Clan," Minos snorted. He shook his head and sighed, raising his hand to reach the cloud and letting the lightning strike him.

He slightly gasped at the touch of the blue lightning, but the man regained his strength not a few monents later. He continued raising his hand and letting the lightning flow inside him until the cloud slowly run out and vanished into nothingness.

"What was that?" Lance asked his cousin who had another bucket of water to heal the new wound. "The cloud and the lightning. What was that about?"

"The Hex put on her. There was a man from the South that stole a very important weapon from a kingdom a very long time ago," Aquarius started. "This man was a Caster and was known to be the greatest in his time. He could fight off dozens of dragons at the same time as rumors, but that was just what the rumors said."

When the wound was healed, Aquarius leaned back and stretched his neck. "This caster went to another kingdom, then he found a king with a sword that can destroy a kingdom with its raw power."

"The Excalibur," Elliot whispered. "It's the Excalibur, isn't it?"

"I'm surprised you even know about it," Aquarius chuckled. "But, yes. It's the Excalibur. The sword of the king that was taken by his trusted mage."

"I think I heard about this story before," Minos said. "The mage was named Merlin and he killed the king to get the sword. Then he went back to Avancia and married eight women damn lucky guy. It was then that he started the clan. The Giverechie Clan."

"He didn't start the clan," Aquarius corrected. "He married his eight wives, impregnated them all at the same time, and used Excalibur when they gave birth, slashing their stomachs and taking the baby."

"What the hell?" Elliot grimaced. "He actually did that?"

"Yes," Aquarius let out a sigh. "He did it because he tried passed down the power of the Excalibur to the children, to which only one survived."

"And what could this child do?" Elliot asked. This story had piqued his curiosity. He felt like he needed to investigate more about this Merlin person and the Giverechie Clan. There was something that was hidden underneath the stories they tell.

"He couldn't weild the Excalibur, only King Arthur could, so he tried to create an heir for this sword. When his experiment failed, Merlin became a recluse," Aquarius said. "The child he got was from the woman he least loved, and the one he actually loved died because of the large open wound of her belly, obviously."

"What happened to the child?" It was Lance who asked this time. The story caught his interest too, making him guess in his mind about what might happen.

"When the child was nine, he took the sword and went to an orphanage. The orphanage reported the child to the officers and the king of that time, King Alzer Alorde III, took a liking at the boy's prowess."

"Back in the day, the Excalibur was known to be invincible. Adventurers who could fight off dragons weren't as many as then, so King Arthur who could dominate one in a fight made a name for himself."

"But what did the other kingdoms do after King Arthur's fall?" Lance asked. "Surely they did something to help his kingdom?"

"Oh, they did something," Aquarius nodded and smirked. "They attacked Camelot and burned it to the ground, killing every man, woman and child. They were ignorant with Excalibur's powers and capabilities, fearing that Camelot would hoard the sword and find another person who could wield it. They also think that Camelot would destroy the kingdoms after they find another wielder."

"So they attacked them before they could find one," Lance whispered. "Royals will do anything for the good of the kingdom."

"But wait," Elliot raised his hand to stop the two. "What does this have to do anything with Katarina?"

This made Aquarius flatten his lips and took a deep breath, "Merlin's child wasn't the one who established the Giverechie Clan. The child was married to a noble and he became a noble himself. The Giverechie Clan are not nobles."

Elliot knit his brows in confusion, "And?"

Aquarius took a pendant from Katarina and showed it to everyone, "Katarina Malleolus, noble of Starr City, is the sole descendant of King Arthur."
