Chapter 87: The Three Objectives of Secret Society

Chapter 87: The Three Objectives of Secret Society

A month since he had entered the Heroica Empire, Compass Carburettor had now arrived at its southwestern tip. During the journey, they had made stops at various cities, allowing a small group of Grogars to infiltrate each city and learn the ways of the place.

Moreover, he also made note of any sectors that he could abuse and take control for his Secret Society to use as a channel to spread. Though at present, only he was able to make someone a member of Secret Society; hence, they didn’t get any new members.

Moreover, after thinking of something, Compass Carburettor decided on a fact: He only planned to make Dungeon Monsters as members of Secret Society. This way, the advantages were greater while the disadvantages were close to one.

After all, even if he turned a person into a member of Secret Society, unless he turned their family into members too, it would be hard. After all, they would feel guilty for hiding things behind their family members. And over time, this sense of guilt might reduce their loyalty and eventually trigger the curse.

If that were to happen, any plans that had involved them would have to be postponed indefinitely. So to prevent that, making Dungeon Monsters as members was better. After all, once he Bestowed them the Skill of Intelligence, they would be smarter than the regular human populace and would quickly be able to assimilate into human society.

Moreover, they could return to their respective Dungeon or habitat in their monster form and farm the resources there. After all, many monster territories were filled with precious minerals, a reason they lived there in the first place.

It was not to mention the fact that the body parts of most monsters had value in the human market. Another even greater advantage was the fact that once one monster from a race became a member, then relying on its superior intelligence, it would slowly be able to convert more of its brethren into members.

After all, there wouldn’t be any preconceived notions to generate any resistance. All it would do was create a beneficial cycle. So, when he arrived at the numerous cities along the way, Compass Carburettor visited the Dungeons in the respective cities, trying his best to convert at least one Dungeon Monster into a member.

But, as he was pressed on time, he wasn’t able to convert any. Though, he accumulated experience for the future. After all, he would have time once he entered the territory of the Great Megwest Empire that was overrun by monsters.

So, the experience he obtained would prove valuable.

At present, he gave the members of Secret Society three objectives. The first was to help the needy while displaying the symbol of Secret Society to them. This was to make them keep thinking about their saviours, causing a constant stream of Mental Energy to gush into him.

The second was to infiltrate human society and accumulate information on a variety of things that would help the Secret Society keep tabs on everything. It was to create a solid information network.

After all, the moment the members in a certain city obtained any information, they would be able to instantly inform Duchess of it. And, she would pass on the information to everyone else in Secret Society. Within a couple of seconds, everyone would know when something important occurs.

Among them, a larger team infiltrated the capital, Grenstan. And, a couple of them were given the task of observing Regriel. They weren’t informed of anything other than to simply report everything of importance surrounding Regriel.

Since a tournament was just about to begin, it was indeed the best opportunity to witness his actions without arising any suspicion. After all, the tournament was the entrance exam required to join the Royal Academy of the Heroica Empire. And, it was like a major festival that both allowed the citizens to relax and entertain themselves by watching the fight while also allowing the Empire to flex its power through the quality of its students.

The third objective given to the members of Secret Society was by far the most important. It was to find traces of System Hosts. Compass Carburettor had already created a list of things a potential System Host would experience.

So, as the members spread out, they began to investigate information related to that. Moreover, while spreading out, they were also tasked with scouting through the unexplored habitats in search of any Dungeons that haven’t ever been raided by humans.

Only after obtaining Secret Society did Compass Carburettor think of a certain line of thought: Once he kills Regriel and refines the Slave Harem System, how would he return to the System World?

After all, the only method to return to the System World was to touch the portal opened by a System when it decided to return. If the Slave Harem System was the only System in this world, then all he would be doing here was trap himself.

He would then have to wait for another System to arrive in the world and persevere until it reaches the end of its Host’s growth so that it would return to the System World. If he were lucky, it would take him a decade or two for that to happen.

If he was unlucky, then he would be spending the rest of his life in this world. Moreover, there was another thing to note about. If the Slave Harem System was the only System in this world, then it would mean he had a futile trip.

So, in order to not waste any more time, he would have to help the Slave Harem System in its growth and cause it to return to the System World as soon as possible. Even though it would prove a waste, as he obtained Secret Society in this world, at least the time he spent here wasn’t completely useless.

‘And to think I never thought about something so basic. It seems I still lack many things.’ He sighed, standing atop a certain hill as he looked at a forest before him, one that formed the southwestern border of the Heroica Empire.
