Chapter 431: Ark Port
Chapter 431: Ark Port
The current of the sea water became a little turbulent, and Lily stared at Alan with a taut face. In the years since she was born, no one had dared to speak to the human before her like this. Lily tried to recall that the way she spoke seemed to be called reprimand. A human actually scolded the princess of the Naga Clan!
There was nothing more outrageous than this.
In response to Lily's anger, the waves quietly intensified, forming a small whirlpool beneath Lily's body. The vortex first rotated in a clockwise direction, and then reversed momentarily. Thus, a column of water rose from the surface of the sea and carried Naga's princess up from the sea. She was short, only about the height of a human girl of twelve or thirteen years old. However, she looked down at Alan with a condescending gaze through the rising water column.
However, it was hard to feel the majesty of the higher-ups from that green face, even though Lily was trying her best to show it. '"Am I wrong? You humans are disgusting creatures. You always covet the things of other races. Invasion, plundering, you are brutal and cruel. You do not hesitate to encroach on the interests of others for your own selfish desires. I do not think I am wrong to say such an ugly life." She said after admitting that she had shaped the princess's dignity.
Alan shook his head and said, "I don't deny that there are such people among humans." However, this was only a portion of people, not all humans. As far as I know, there are some people who are brave and strong. In order to protect their compatriots, they were willing to sacrifice themselves and stand on the front line of resisting foreign enemies! They are warriors and heroes, and their brilliance is enough to illuminate the dark side of mankind. "
"There are always two sides to things, day and night. Day and night alternated. This was the law of nature. Even if it was His Highness, His Highness might not be completely correct. Not to mention far away, your pet shattered half of the island during the day. May I ask Your Highness, was it the innocent people on this island who captured your clansmen? They don't even know what happened! "
"This" Lily's face was a little flustered, like a child caught doing something wrong. Her eyes rolled randomly, and she was just about to find an excuse to prevaricate.
"So you see, we don't always see the right thing to do in our lives. Only one thing, now that we've made our decision and acted, we're responsible for what we've done, right or wrong," Ellen said, spreading out his hands.
"I..."
"Ah, I have to go back! Anyway, we should not meet again!" Lily stepped on the water column with her little foot angrily. She turned around and jumped into the sea with a fish jump. In the blink of an eye, it had already disappeared from the dim sea.
Alan looked at the sea and shook his head. Someone called him from the beach. He put away his fishing rod and walked over.
Lily continued to swim deeper into the sea. A moment later, a shadow rose from the water and supported her. It was the sea demon that attacked the island in the morning. Its wounds had already been treated. Although its vitality had not recovered, it was already able to move freely. It carried Lily to the underwater palace. Lily sat cross-legged on its head and patted the sea demon. "Mammon, what he said seems to make sense" she whispered.
The sea demon opened its mouth and let out a low cry as it slowly left.
At dawn, the Paradise set sail. The sailboat left Pearl Harbor for the rest of the journey. This time, it went smoothly. After a week at sea, the Paradise arrived at Ark Harbor. When he entered the harbor, Alan could see the cliff facing the sea was hollowed out from afar. The hollow belly of the mountain opened up a Z-shaped road that could reach the top of the mountain.
The natural stone pillars were arranged one after another, forming the unique scenery of Ark Harbor, the Tide-shocking Corridor.
Ark Harbor was a special harbor, unlike Violet Harbor, which faced the strait directly. The whole port city was actually located at the top of the mountain, and the dock was located in the hill. When the Paradise entered one of the docks, Allen was surprised to find that it was not dark at all. Above the mountain, there were small and large gaps, through which sunlight cast down, forming pillars of light that illuminated the entire dock.
Moreover, there were street lamps on the dock. These lamps used real electric energy to emit light. Even at night, only the lights at the dock were enough to light up. The parkman stopped at one of the berths. The sailors lowered the deck and the guards began to escort the slaves off the ship. Allen and Roger got off the ship through another special deck and arrived at the dock. They could see several merchant ships loading and unloading cargo nearby. Horse carriages dragged people and goods out of the dock, following a special passage into the Tide Corridor and heading for the city at the top of the hill.
"This is truly a wonderful city." Alan said sincerely.
Roger laughed and said, "I had the same idea when I first came here. I had to admire Earl Oban's ancestors for their perseverance and ideas when I dug out the docks and corridors in the belly of the mountain."
Oban Redley was the owner of the Ark Harbor and a vast territory around it. There were also a few barons and viscounts under this count's command. The Earl's family was one of the most famous families in the empire. The history of the family could be traced back to hundreds of years ago, and it could be said to have a long family history. At the same time, the Ridley family was the founder of Ark Harbor. When the family first arrived at Ark Harbor, it was only a small village.
After the Ridley family's operation, it gradually changed from a village to a town, and finally became the famous port city of the empire.
After passing through the Tidal Wave Corridor and arriving at the top of the mountain, a beautiful city leapt into view. Clean streets, lush green trees, beautiful stone corridors, sculptures, plazas, fountains are scattered in all angles of the city. Even though it was a city formed after continuous expansion, it had done enough planning. The difference between the old and the new could be judged only from the appearance of the buildings, and the city itself was an integral whole, like a huge work of art.
Most of the shipyards in the city are located at the edge of the city and even form a distinctive street. On this street called Ark Avenue, there was an endless stream of merchants, and many merchants from other places came to order sailboats for their caravans at a certain factory.
As the carriage passed through the city's central square, Alan saw a special sculpture. It was a sculpture of the bow of a ship. Although it was carved out of stone, the stone sculpture carved out a fine grain of wood. The fault is not that the stones are mainly natural gray, otherwise people will mistakenly think that they are components removed from a sailboat.
There was a name carved at the bottom of the bow, Oro Redley, the ancestor of Earl Oppen and the man who built the first sailboat in the city.
The carriage finally arrived in front of an ancient castle. The outer walls of this castle were all made of natural white rock. It had a name that matched its appearance, White Castle. White Castle was the birthplace of the Ridley family. After passing through the ancient arch of the castle, the carriage stopped on a cobblestone plaza. Roger brought Alan out of the carriage, since someone led the carriage away.
A middle-aged butler ran over and shook Roger's hand affectionately. "Long time no see, Mr. Roger," he said, "and this time I shall trouble you to personally bring the War Slave that the Count needs."
"You're still as energetic as ever, Steward Mace. I've already made an appointment with the count. I wonder if he's free now?"
"Yes, yes, Your Excellency. I heard that you're here. I'm waiting for you in the study." Housekeeper Mace pretended to be mysterious, "If nothing unexpected happens, there's still a big deal waiting for Mr. Roger."
Then he looked at Alan and said, "Who is this?"
"Oh, I forgot to introduce you. This is Baron Allen. He is my partner. Come with me to pay respects to Earl Marquis this time." Roger smiled.
"Baron?" Mace looked at Alan in surprise and said, "What an unexpected youth."
Alan smiled. Roger had already informed him. He took the opportunity to shake hands and put a small bag of gold coins into the butler's pocket. "Please introduce me, butler Mace."
Mace laughed dryly, "The baron is surprisingly generous. Follow me, gentlemen."
Although the castle had gone through a long period of time, there was a strange lack of gloominess inside. This was due to the fact that the problem of daylighting had been taken into account at the beginning of construction. This required the designer to carefully consider the orientation of the castle, the distribution of the doors and windows, and what appeared in Allen's eyes now was a long but bright corridor and spacious interior space.
Walking in the castle, you can see well-maintained paintings, polished armor and potted plants everywhere. It could be imagined that the daily cleaning of the castle was a huge project. However, after so many years, the castle did not show any signs of collapse. From this, it could be seen how much effort the Earl's family had invested in this castle.
He soon arrived at the Count's study, and after Housekeeper Mace had made his announcement, Roger brought Alan inside. The study room was very quiet, and there was a faint fragrance floating in the air. It was not like the fragrance of flowers, but rather the smell of some kind of incense wood.
A man was reading a book. He was bathed in the brilliant sunlight by the window. That was Earl Oban. The count, who had already stepped into middle age, looked surprisingly young. Perhaps due to proper maintenance, the white face looked only thirty years old at most. Hearing the sound of footsteps, he raised his head. Behind a pair of golden-rimmed glasses on his nose was a pair of eyes with blue pupils.
'"Welcome to Ark Harbor, Mr. Roger. It's been a long journey," he smiled. "And... Sir Allen?"
