Chapter 359: (EDT) Rescue (7)
"Let's go!" Zhang Qin Feng ordered everyone to leave after tossing the canister into ten different spots inside the zombie swarm.
Using the mere ten or so seconds they still had, the group quickly distanced themselves from the detonation spot. They protected themselves using the Frost Curtain Equipment that came along with the power suit.
The moment the ten canisters detonated, it was like a school of the light goddess had descended to the surface of this earth. Flames as bright as fluorescent light followed as it purifies the surface contaminated with the filth of Seed Crystal Virus.
"That's..." the two captains positioned along the coast were also surprised by the light created by Zhang Qin Feng's secret weapon. As both of them were previously loyal followers of Satella, it was apparent that they knew one or two things about this Wolfram Light.
The temperature around the cliff increased to 3000 degrees in a flash when ten Wolfram Lights were detonated in the sea of zombies. Everything surrounding the detonation point was turned into ashes as it was purified to nothingness.
Even the trees, concrete, and rubbish around them were not excluded from the powerful raging flames.
The light lasted for close to fifteen seconds. After that, both flames and light vanish together. Only some grit and fine ashes were left around the area as the atmosphere returned to the eerie silence.
Was it not because the ten of them were protected by the Frost Curtain, Zhang Qin Feng and the others might have met the same fate as the zombies.
Although this was not the first time his men witnessed the might of this Wolfram Light, it was still a sight to behold. Without the need for explosion or powerful detonation, the oxygen around the atmosphere was the main lifeline of this Wolfram Light.
It came as fast as a few breaths, and the destruction was just beautiful.
And with nothing else for them to collect from here, Zhang Qin Feng ordered that they continue their journey towards the port. Although there were still a few hours before midnight, nobody had the feeling of getting their sleep right now.
Their heart was still filled with the traumatizing experience of going against so many zombies at once.
And as they're going to abandon this location and continue moving, the system collected ten items left on the battlefield. The sensor also noticed a weak zombie reading on the edge of the burning area.
But since the signal was too weak to be a bother, Zhang Qin Feng decided to ignore it. He had no idea this choice would make him regret it very soon in the future.
All his attention is now on the ten shard-like items collected by the system. The safety of his team is also his main concern as this was their first time traveling at night.
He had no idea that the weak signal he ignored earlier was slowly getting stronger after he left.

"Boss! The zombies and Tyrants lingering around the port are much lesser than we thought. If the two ships provide us with cover fire, I'm sure we can immediately retake this location. What do you think?" the V-2 team leader asked.
His words made Zhang Qin Feng study the rock forest from where he stands. It seems that half of the Tyrants were no longer around this area. And if these numbers were all they had to go against, it would be an easy battle for his people to retake the place.
"Sure. Since you're confident about taking care of this, I'll leave everything to you. Do as you wish and rescue our remaining colleagues from the hidden underground." Zhang Qin Feng nodded and approved the team leader's suggestion.
"Yes, boss! That would be my honor!" the V-2 team leader immediately showed a hint of gratitude to Zhang Qin Feng. Leading the others with him, the team leader quickly organized a speedy rescue mission while communicating with the two captains.
As for Zhang Qin Feng, he continued to monitor them from afar.
'Looks like after this battle, I'll have a few candidates for promotion to replace Satella, Alex, Shaun, and Queenie's position.' Zhang Qin Feng talked to himself in mind while he witnessed how the battle went on.
It seems that they could fare pretty well against the zombies even without him leading the team. While at the same time, Zhang Qin Feng also managed to see how the volunteered residents did in this battle.
In this battle, the Rearguard teams might have less exposure than the Vanguards, but their contribution was not small either. At least in this battle alone, they helped protect some hardly experienced soldiers from meeting their end too soon.
And at the end of the battle, the eight people under the rubble were saved. Unfortunately, the two Builder's Frame he left here and the management crew were all dead, and their death was a loss to Zhang Qin Feng's group right now.
After the rescue, everyone immediately returned to the two vessels for a quick briefing on what to do next. The eight injured personnel were given a chance to recover. They'll be following Zhang Qin Feng back to the Vermilion Empress for sure when leaving.

[Toot... The system picked up a few items that could be a significant breakthrough for the research team]
Stein seems to be in the mood for a privy conversation as Zhang Qin Feng returns to his private cabin to rest. Lying down on top of the bed, the item appeared in his hand.
It looked like a much larger piece of Duranium Shard, but the color had turned from bluish to brownish. The energy within is also fiercer than a regular Duranium Shard, like a remnant of a nuclear explosion hidden inside the palm-sized crystal shard.
'Interesting... What could this piece of crystal be?' Zhang Qin Feng asked himself while playing with the crystal shard. Compared to the regular Duranium Shard that was about the size of a pinky finger, this thing is much more significant.
And if there's anyone that could answer this, perhaps it's only Stein or someone else with the same crystal shard as he does.
