Chapter 617: Chapter 591: Becoming Addicted 10

The cottage was a bungalow, and the rain was so heavy that Ming Shang, standing outside under an umbrella, might as well have had none.

Gu Qingxin immediately opened the door to let him in, anxiously saying, “The power is out.”

“Such a big typhoon, it’s normal for the power to be out!” Ming Shang commented, checking the condition of the house.

“Afraid of the dark?” Ming Shang asked.

Gu Qingxin promptly nodded; she was indeed afraid of the dark!

“I’ll go find you a candle.” Ming Shang left again, umbrella in hand. Nôv(el)B\\jnn

Before leaving, he cautioned her to keep the door locked and not to open it for anyone but him.

Ming City was also being battered by the storm at the moment. Beiming Han stood by the floor-to-ceiling window in his office, unable to make a connection to Gu Qingxin’s phone no matter how many times he dialed.

His brows furrowed tightly. He suddenly felt very uneasy, even experiencing a sensation of breathlessness.

“Young Master, the island is in the center of the typhoon. The whole island is out of power and all communication has been cut off,” Ye Qi walked in and said. He was slightly pale but otherwise unharmed.

Beiming Han’s phone suddenly rang. He picked it up immediately. When he saw the name on the screen, a wave of disappointment flashed in his eyes…

His gaze returned to the photograph of Gu Qingxin’s silhouette…

With a gentle slide, he answered the call. Huangfu Ye’s voice came through, “Brother, the typhoon is severe tonight. Stay in the office and don’t go anywhere.”

Bai Jingqing had also awakened. He was still running a low fever, his lips cracked from the heat. He frowned at Huangfu Ye.

They all knew that Gu Qingxin had gone to the island today to shoot an advertisement and were afraid that their elder brother would impulsively make an attempt to reach the island in this horrible weather.

This kind of weather was accident-prone.

Beiming Han, “….”

Turning his gaze back to the outside, a bolt of lightning ripped a large tear in the dark night sky…

After Ming Shang left, the itch on Gu Qingxin’s face intensified, but with no electricity, she had no clue about what was happening to her face.

In a matter of minutes, Ming Shang returned with a single candlestick.

“This is all there is. Try to get some sleep if you can.” Ming Shang came in and lit the candle for her.

With the light in the room, Gu Qingxin wasn’t so scared anymore.

“If you’re giving me this, what about you?”

“I’m a man, how could I possibly be afraid of the dark?”

Gu Qingxin looked at him. He wasn’t afraid of the dark, yet he had fainted in an elevator.

“Or, out of kindness, you could let me bunk with you,” Ming Shang coughed lightly to cover up his embarrassment.

“You better take the candlestick back.” Gu Qingxin understood the seriousness of his condition.

“I’ll stay with Jack tonight. Now that’s settled, I’m heading out. You should rest too.” Ming Shang tentatively touched her wet hair with his fingers, his brows furrowing involuntarily. Sleeping like this, she might catch a cold.

“You should take a hot bath when you get back so you don’t catch a cold.”

Gu Qingxin was quite touched by his thoughtfulness, braving such a storm just for her sake.

“Got it, lock your door.” Ming Shang said before leaving with his umbrella.

Gu Qingxin locked the door and went back to the bed, sitting down and hugging her knees. The itch on her face increased again. She went to the bathroom to rinse her face with cold water, but the water was out too.

She returned to the bed, trying to scratch lightly, but to no avail, the itchiness intensified with each scratch…

The force of the wind outside was escalating. Suddenly, there was a loud “bang”. The window glass in Gu Qingxin’s room was shattered by the wind…

The cold wind mixed with rain rushed in and wrapped around her instantly. The candle inside was blown out…
