Dressed in a black suit, Jing Yichen stood at the door, ready to strike, like a cheetah.

Jing Yiran took the struggling Shangguan Ning into his arms, and held on to her tightly. “Aha, so punctual!” he said to Yichen, mockingly.

“Have you forgotten your sweet little American lover after you met this beauty here? Haven’t you been missing her so much...?”

Before he was able to finish his words, Jing Yichen punched his face with such speed and grit that Jing Yiran couldn’t even defend himself.

Jing Yiran shrieked in pain. He involuntarily released Shangguan Ning from his hold, and charged towards Jing Yichen, with a fist.

Jing Yichen had already anticipated this move. After all, Jing Yichen had been in many street fights and knew the art of self defence. He was flexible and well prepared. On the contrary, Jing Yiran had been pampered all his life. He lived luxuriously and had never known what life on the street was like.

After a few minutes of fighting, Jing Yichen still looked orderly, whilst Jing Yiran was out of breath and bleeding profusely. His handsome facial features had now become swollen and distorted.

However, he feigned indifference, “Bah, what a pity! Had you come in one second later, I would have had a taste of the Beauty. Next time, I’ll strip her, before I do anything else with her.”

Jing Yichen showered him with blows. He didn’t stop until Jing Yiran was lying senseless in a corner.

Jing Yichen didn’t care much about Yiran or the condition he was in. He grabbed Shangguan Ning’s hand and left with her.

Ning stared at Yichen. How could a man be so fierce in one moment and gentle the next? He held her hand so tenderly, like she was fine porcelain. Much unlike Yiran who didn’t care about how much pain he caused her.

At the gates of Royal Crown, Lee Duo stood, with his bevy of men.

She realised that he had been protecting Shangguan Ning with his team on the sly. He must’ve been the one to report to Jing Yichen about her meeting with Jing Yiran.

Jing Yiran was a pervert and the whole city knew of his ways. He charmed is way into the pants of many women – married or single. The women weren’t to blame, Yiran was so handsome, it was easy to fall for his talks. He’d trick them into sleeping with him by falsely promising them marriage. Later though, he never even bothered to call back the woman that he had been intimate with.

Anyone who came to his door would end up being in a terrible situation. As time went by, he was hailed as “Mr. Ruthless”.

Once, someone had commented about the contrasting nature of the two sons of Family Jing – one of them was reserved and never let any woman bother him, whilst the other was such a handsome, smooth talker that he was always surrounded by women. Both of them lacked any feelings and emotions.

Unlike Tiger who was simple-minded, Lee Duo had gone through various experiences, and he understood a great deal of the world. Lee Duo didn’t know if Jing Yiran had ever been in love but he knew that his master, Jung Yichen was falling for this lady. He could tell it from elder master’s behaviour. He understood how important this woman was to his master. Therefore, he was very vigilant about her protection. He knew exactly where she went and whom she met.

Lee Duo also knew that Jing Yiran had offended his older brother, when he dared to touch the woman Yichen loved.

Jing Yichen was still furious. He couldn’t get over the fact that his wife had kept him in the dark about all this. Instead of sharing her problems with her husband, she had chosen to handle them herself and in the process walked into the very trap that Jing Yiran has set for her. He couldn’t imagine what would’ve happened today, if he had gotten there any later.

He couldn’t blame her entirely though. Yichen knew that his wife was just a means to an end, for Jing Yiran. Yiran had intended to hurt Yichen and this was the best way to do that.

Shangguan Ning was a smart girl. She knew intuitively that Jing Yichen was fuming and she knew exactly why. She hadn’t expected that the man she would meet this morning would be this dangerous. She also wondered how the two men knew each other. She gauged that she was a pawn in the whole affair. Jing Yiran must’ve wanted to avenge something. She just didn’t know what.

She got into the car with Yichen. Her wrist hurt but she didn’t speak of it. She remembered Jing Yiran’s words to Jing Yichen -“Your American lover.” She knew that Yiran was trying to sow seeds of suspicion between them two, but she was still upset.

Jing Yichen should’ve been back from his trip to Africa, in 3 days, yet he took 5 days to return. She knew that Jing Yichen did go to the USA. Now she was certain that Jing Yiran wasn’t lying. Was he referring to the girl in Yichen’s painting... someone Yichen was unable to forget?

No woman would be able to tolerate her man’s infidelity, no matter how much she loved him. Jing Yichen had once told Ning that there was nothing untoward going on between him and the girl he had painted, but somehow Ning found that hard to believe. Ning realised the depth of her feelings towards Yichen. She wouldn’t have felt so bitter if she hadn’t loved him.

One of Shangguan Ning’s traits was that she was bold enough to confront everyone in front of her.

No one could rob her of anything that belonged to her henceforth. She would not plead for anything that didn’t belong to her, although the thing might scatter her life into pieces.

Jing Zhongxiu once said that Shangguan Ning had a straightforward and pure personality whilst Jing Yichen wasn’t so talkative and was always in deep thought, and in that sense they could complement each other. He was an experienced man and possessed really sharp senses, so his comments towards these two people had been totally on target.

For example, at this moment, while Jing Yichen stayed silent with a cold face, Shangguan Ning spoke directly, asking the questions that lingered in her heart.

Irrespective of how she felt, Shangguan Ning decided to be practical and confront the problem head on. She had to ask Yichen about this. If indeed Yichen loved the other woman, then she wouldn’t hold on to someone who didn’t love her back. It didn’t matter if her heart would break to see Yichen leave.

Shangguan Ning spoke firmly, “President, would you be so kind as to explain who that man was, and what he meant by ‘your American lover?’ You are angry, I understand but shouldn’t I be the one angry right now?”
