A Villainess Should Be Strong

Chapter 146: A Hidden Past

Chapter 146: A Hidden Past

Estelle was curious about Liviera too, and what the long history between her and the famous Void Witch was.

"Now that you have learned about my identity due to Frey Agatha's stupidity, how should we tolerate this situation? Estelle Clareste from Alynthi?" Liviera stated Estelle's identity with confidence.

Listening to her own status being mentioned, Estelle flinched internally out of reflex, but soon found it logical for Liviera to be able to get that information due to her special status. As a member of a family with a high nobility rank, in addition to standing out for their eccentric qualities that separated them from the other families, Estelle was definitely not an insignificant person.

"Livi, she's not in the wrong," Aleksei butted in, addressing the woman with the nickname 'Livi', which showed that the pair was also quite close.

"I know, I am not going to hold it against her. I am just curious.. about this girl," Liviera chuckled lowly as she examined Estelle with complex eyes.

Estelle felt discomfort after being stared at like that and her eyes flickered.

"Haah, Frey Agatha, you are really my death star," Liviera complained. "I can't even begin to count how many strings of bad luck you've brought me over the past years we have been acquainted. It's quite the special trait in itself, to be able to attract so many misfortunes. Did you know how much trouble you made, that eventually also implicated me?"

"The same goes for me, you vampire!" Frey said. "Wh

The two were like fire and water, both would not mix and would not back down to each other.

However, once they found their perfect balance, these two opposite personalities were actually able to coincide and perform spectacularly.

"There's nothing I could do at this point apart from unethical procedures, which is definitely not the logical solution in this case. I will just let you be, but be mindful," Liviera ignored Frey's remark and warned Estelle vaguely.

Estelle nodded, promising to not spill this entire encounter's details to herself.

Then, it was time to discuss their mission once again.

"Now then, about 'Noir' and 'Lune'. Now that I have battled one of the perpetrators directly, I can confirm that the opponent does hold a similar vibe to 'Noir'. We can assume that Noir plays a role in this case, which relates to my job.. so excuse me as I contact the headquarters to deliver this message for a moment," Liviera walked away from the crowd and went deep inside the forest.

The ones left behind stood still for a couple second before one spoke.

Estelle crossed her arms once she confirmed that Liviera was nowhere in sight.

"Hn, I thought that she would be much more angrier at me, but the lack of reaction is quite surprising," Estelle mused.

"Well, she's not the type to freak out over small things. Although you now know her identity, what can you do with it? It's not like you can exploit it or something. The reason why she got revealed was.. urk, it was my fault, and that vampire isn't unreasonable. She would not blame it on you since you are innocent," Frey defended the case unconsciously, which showed that she knew the violet lady's perks.

"Actually.. I am curious about some things," Estelle scratched the sides of her head as she pondered upon the matter.

"About me and the vampire? Ask, ask all you want. I will get to decide whether I answer it or not, though," Frey nonchalantly replied.

Estelle stared at Frey with confused eyes. "The timeline doesn't match... or am I missing something?"

"Huh? What?" Frey furrowed her brows, not getting Estelle's meaning.

"The timeline of.. everything. The story of the Void Witch, the Elysium Order.. Teaching Aleksei, and everything that happened in between," Estelle said, voicing out her confusion.

"..Hmm, I get it now, you must be wondering about... that matter," Frey said, not answering anything but gesturing for Estelle to continue her words.

"En. Well, I thought that the Elysium Order was founded around the same time as the Void Witch's active period. Then, how come.. according to your words, the Institution was already established? Then, you went to create the spatial library, I learned that it was also in this range of time.. Come to think of it, the matter with tutoring Aleksei should also still be within this vague scope.. so, what exactly did you do?" Estelle tilted her head.

Frey seemed to be everywhere. Estelle did not even know how old the woman was, but just going by the Void Witch's appearance, she should easily be several hundred years old.

She did so much things at once at different places, times, and occasions.

The Elysium Order did not exist since the beginning of Elysium's creation, it was actually a separate organization that climbed up the ranks of authority after much improvements and efforts to prove their worth towards the people.

The timeline was skewed.

"Well, I did travel everywhere a lot," Frey said. "About the Order.. I was actually not a student, but I did meet that vampire.. Liviera Skye as a disciple ranked person. In truth, I was one of the people who gathered to form the Order because there was some chaotic occurrences that elapsed over Elysium. To control those situation easier, the Order was formed. And the students that were taught by the institution is set to be peace keepers in Elysium, which then stretched to other countries as well. Around this time, I frequently went out as the Void Witch. Since I also passed Alfheim from time to time, this was when I began to build up the spatial library and taught Aleksei on the side," she narrated the events.

"You seem to be very busy," Estelle wondered how the woman performed like that all day. "But then, why are you not sitting in a main seat if you are one of the founders?" Estelle thought it was strange.

"..Because of some incidents, I dipped out of the plan and took the seat of an honorary member," Frey replied.

"And am I allowed to inquire about these incidents..?" Estelle cautiously prodded.

"It's better for you to not know. It's all in the past anyway, it's not relevant," Frey reluctantly looked away.

"..Then we will drop this topic," Estelle casually relented. It wasn't something significant anyway. It was much more important to keep the relationship with Frey Agatha intact.

Within minutes, Liviera came back. They could finally resume their journey.

"Now that we have reached this point, and so much people were taken down by us, they would definitely be alerted. It wouldn't be strange if we are currently being tracked, being waited for to reach a point where we are vulnerable. Thus, in order to ensure safety, each of us should cover a side while we walk," Liviera said.

"I will walk in the front, Aleksei to the left, Estelle to the right, and you, Frey Agatha, go to the back," she instructed.

"Hey, why am I on the back?!" Frey protested.

"The back is at risk of a lot of dangers. It is a corner I would not leave to a person whose capabilities I don't trust. What are you displeased with, Frey Agatha? Do you think you can't live up to my expectations of you?"

"Ha.. hah?! What are you talking about, aren't you just trying to minimize my contributions by taking the front charge?" Noticeably, Frey was quite flustered by Liviera's words.

"The positions are actually because of our abilities' suitability, I am more confident in opening up the path before us than you. Frey Agatha, knowing you, you will probably make another mishap and ruin some things. Besides, I will protect the front, while you protect the back. Haven't we done this tactic ever since the light of dawn? Did you forget already?" Liviera argued.

Even though their words seemed thorny, the meaning that was entrusted were not that bad.

"..Is it just me or these two seem to have more than just a baseless rivalry?" Estelle nudged Aleksei with her elbow, steering out of the two, who were currently fighting with ferocious attitudes.

However, the atmosphere between them seemed a bit off. Their words also conveyed that they did not despise each other and even held quite the good sentiments.

Their fights were not a result of bad intent, but instead a back and forth relay of storytelling dialogues.

The more Estelle listened, the more they seemed to expose the far relationship cast between these two.

"Don't even think about it. You may discuss that in a place without them, but they will rage if you say it in front of them," Aleksei silently whispered.

This cat and dog relationship, Estelle really was puzzled by the showcase, but accepted without much thought.

Estelle nodded slowly, starting to figure and piece out the matter that happened between this two eccentric people by the clues she was given.
