A Child Turned Into A Soldier

Chapter 50: Finding A Job

Chapter 50: Finding A Job

POV: Azrail Diggory

I felt nothing but sheer disappointment at myself for the actions I've committed today. I was so dumb that I even tried to fight a damn ghost, something that wasn't even real.

I wanted to be alone by myself to think things over, to reassess myself. Weaknesses can easily be exploited and I already felt like mine were getting abused.

Alexander and I have been walking down the stairs for quite a while, luckily nothing has happened during that time.

I was glad that he of all people was the one who found me in that state. Not only was he able to calm me down but did so without making me get even worse. Once I've lost all control, it's very hard for me to get it back. If he hadn't ended it quickly, who knows what I would have done.

It's like going on a rampage, I want nothing besides destruction and chaos all together. I thrived on them, they were what I was comfortable with.

"I think I should stay besides you in the capital, I'm only exploring it today to see what such an Empire is like anyway."

"No thanks, I'm fine now so there's really no need for that."

"...Alright then, what do you plan on doing then?"

"Finding a job."

"Already huh? Well everyone needs money, honestly I'm not used to being so poor. Still though you can enjoy yourself here from time to time, rest is something everyone needs."

I didn't answer him back as I had nothing to say, I think the best thing for myself is keeping busy.

If I notice things start to get worse I could perhaps see a doctor here. With such advanced technology I'm sure their medical field is the same, so maybe they have something for me.

We finally made it to the end of the stairs; the capital was finally in view.

An astonishing number of buildings could be seen, they all looked to be the exact same size as well. Each building was about 4 stories high, they also all had the same width and length.

However, some buildings differed in color with the unusual part being the colors were quite different from any human made buildings. I saw quite a few red buildings, minimum blue buildings, a few purple buildings, and a couple of black buildings here and there. Also they all looked to have no windows, not a single one.

The streets were also quite busy, no vehicles could be seen as everyone seemed to be walking. I could spot human and Elves within the busy streets as they easily stood out from the rest of the Fallen Empires citizens.

"Well, I'll see you around Azrail hopefully you end up finding a job."

Alexander had taken his leave and started walking towards the busy streets of the capital.

I was still standing at the bottom of the staircase, I had no idea where I was supposed to go and I didn't want to end up getting lost. I decided to walk on the path that looked to surround the entire capital.

As I made my way to the path and started walking on it, I had noticed that each building had words ingrained on top of the glass doors.

These words were written in human language, as least to my eyes that was. I assumed this was the work of the wristband. This thing was truly amazing, it did seem though that they have limited it capabilities since I couldn't read the Fallem Empires runes.

'How the hell am I supposed to know whose hiring? Wait, how the fuck do I even apply to a job?'

My disappointment at myself multiplied as I really wish I had known how to do these simple tasks. I didn't really want to ask anyone for help, so I simply decided to keep looking at each building to see if there was a hiring sign or something of that nature.

I walked and walked, I even started walking into the city and back out to the outskirts path yet still had no luck.

I continued doing this for more than 3 hours and my blood was really starting to boil.

'How in the fuck do they expect us to find a damn job when no place looks to be hiring? I mean what the fuck is this shit? Should I just suck it up and start asking random people?'

I was currently walking on the outskirts with my head down, I really had no idea that finding a job would be this hard.

I decided to shove my fear away and start asking random people if maybe they knew something. I would simply have to hope they weren't racist to people who are not their own race.

I did notice some people give me quite a dirty look, but they were in the minority. Most people simply glanced at me and kept on with their day.

I started looking around to see if anyone looked nice enough to help me out.

I spotted quite a chubby man who had a big smile on his face while talking to what I assumed to be his wife. The clothes they had on were quite nice as well, the man had a nice white suit on while the lady had a white dress.

After staring at them for a bit I did get anxious and didn't want to talk to them, but I forced myself to make the move.

"Ugh excuse me." I said to the couple, both of them quickly whipped their heads around to look at me.

"What the hell boy, you scared the shit out of me. Wait, what the fuck are you?" The man said, his blue eyes seemed to be scanning my face. The man had short blue hair as well that was cleanly groomed.

"Honey! Watch that dirty mouth of yours we are in public! Sorry about that dear my husband is quite slow; do you need help with something?" The wife said slapping her husband in the back. Her eyes were pure white which matched her hair as well.

"What? I mean have you ever seen someone that looked like him? Boy what race are you and what's up with your face?" He said while defending himself from his wife.

"I'm a human sir, also these are scars on my face."

"Oh you're a human, never heard of them but I know what scars are dummy, how'd you get them."

"Honey." His wife said in quite a cold tone which ended up even scarring me. The husband had seemed to back up off his wife and put his head down.

"Sorry about him, anyway as I was saying what do you need help with?"

"It's okay, I was looking for a job actually and I haven't seen anyone hiring. Would you know anyone or any place that is?"

"Yes actually my dumb husband here owns a business and needs workers quite badly. Look honey it seems you can finally hire your first employee."

"Dear, you know I can't just hire anybody." As soon as those words left his mouth his wife gave him a quick glance.

"Okay boy you can work with me."
