Paragon of Death

Chapter 158

158 Chapter 157: Four Ancient elemental dragons

“Do you really believe your master has become so weak that he needs the help of others to protect himself?” Damon leaned forward with a slight frown on his face but Blink wasn’t moved by this.

“Master is the strongest but also the dumbest I have seen too” Blink said casually, stunning Damon.

Normally, anyone would fly into a rage but Damon didn’t. He knew the nature of the kid he took in as a disciple and he knew he wouldn’t say something like this without a reason. In fact, even though Blink seems playful and carefree, he is also very observant and smart.

“Why do you say so?” Damon asked with a raised eyebrow. If someone were here, they would be shocked by the fact that the terrifying death mage would let a kid say something like this to him and get away with it.

“Master is the strongest but also the dumbest. With all that strength, he can easily win against anyone in a one-on-one fight but he prefers fighting armies and enemies alone. Blink will get strong enough to stand by their master’s side at all times since he likes fighting too many people at once. That way I can lessen the burden on master” Blink said with a casual look on his face but Damon was stunned.

Thinking about it now, what this kid said wasn’t false. All his life, he has been fighting not against one foe but many. He can’t count how many battles he has gotten involved in but he can count how many times he has faced an enemy in a one-on-one battle with one hand. Thinking about this he laughed casually but his heart stung as he buried this in the depths of his heart. His cold gaze shifted to the figure of the little kid sitting not too far from him and a cruel look bloomed on his face.

“Then you better get strong fast so that you can protect your master when he decides to conquer the world!” Damon said with a cruel smile and a bright smile bloomed on Blink’s face.

“OKAY!” The little kid smiled sheepishly.

The team began their journey secretly in hopes of not alerting the rest of the world but none of that mattered. With a force of over a million undead soldiers with more than five spirit realm masters in the blood mountain, no one would dare attack without thinking things through. As for Blink, Damon left him in the care of Roselle Blood, the only female member of true blood.

He charged her with the task of playing the role of a mother for the young Blink while also teaching him how to fight. No one knew how long they would be gone so for now, they only had to depend on these people to keep those close to them safe.

After a week of traveling, Damon and the team reached a barren part of the continent covered in sand and scorched by the sun. Contrary to the expectations of others, Damon and the team had no intentions of going for the inheritance directly. If the enemy wishes to ambush them and get rid of them that would be the best time so they chose to do things differently.

The world was filled with sealed artifacts and items that can boost their overall strength and help them face the threats ahead of them. Instead of going directly to the inheritance and finding themselves drawn into a battle that they may lose, they believed it was best to search for these sealed artifacts while the enemy is frustrated by their absence.

“Where the hell is this?” Gin asked with a smile.

To prevent any possible mishaps only Damon knew the location of these sealed artifacts, that way word getting out about their movements would be impossible. These locations were discovered by Michael Blood and his team after they searched the entire continent. A map is given to Damon to guide him but where he chooses to go first is completely up to him.

“Have you heard the legend of the four ancient dragons that once dominated the cultivation world?” Damon asked casually as he gazed at the endless desert with a calm look on his face.

The rest may not be able to feel it but Damon could feel it the cruel aura hidden within all that sand. This terrifying power was so intimidating even Damon had goosebumps but his robes hid it properly, if not none of his teammates would have agreed to continue.

‘A demigod!’ Damon frowned slightly.

“The four demigod dragons who once covered the skies with their powers. They lacked the inheritance of the world, neither were they selected by the old gods or cosmic beings, yet these beings reached a profound realm and even tried to reach the heavens and dethrone the old gods.” Damon said with a smile while studying the map in his hands.

“They had reached the peak of the demigod realm and were only a step away from the true god realm. These beings believed that the only way to reach the true god realm was to shatter the barriers between mortals and gods, drag the gods out of hiding, kill them and take their grace!” Elsa said stunning Gin and Cyrus.

“Hmph! These dragons are too cocky... They even have crazy thoughts like this?” Cyrus laughed and Gin joined him, but when they noticed Damon and Elsa wore stern looks on their faces, they stopped laughing. They realized these two weren’t joking and there was more to the story.

“Don’t tell me they actually tried that?” Gin asked with a ghastly pale look on his face. For the first time in his life, he was experiencing immense fear.

“The four ancient dragons carried them out and with their combined power, they shattered the thin wall separating the realms of the heavens and mortal realm. The four ancient dragons are known as the father of all dragons and the first dragons to ever exist. With their combined might, they led the dragon race and waged a war against the old gods. These beings believed the dragon race was the most powerful and for that reason, they should be the ones ruling the world. They weren’t wrong but they weren’t right either!” Damon’s eyes chilled as he spoke those words and Elsa continued from where he stopped.

“The battle was said to have lasted for a millennium and during that time, the new gods had only reincarnated for the second time and had already reached the demigod realm. They hid amongst the dragons all through their new life and trained with them. They instigated them against the old gods and prepared to use them as their trump card in the new war but they underestimated the power of these dragons.” Elsa said.

“When the war began, they had the absolute advantage. One after the other the heavenly beings and deities fell one after the other but then the old gods and the cosmic beings appeared and the real battle began. With the barrier between the mortal realm and the heavenly realm shattered, the fierce battle was so strong the entire mortal realm was almost destroyed and all life in the world was on the brink of extinction. The hosts tried to persuade the dragons to stop even though they were winning. Considering the condition of the world they realized that they will definitely win the war but there will be no one to rule or a world to rule if things continued this way.” Damon said with a frown.

He could understand why these hosts were anxious and he agreed with their decision.

“When the dragons refused to retreat from a fight they were clearly winning, the hosts joined hands with the old gods and for the first time in history, the old and new gods joined forces and began battling the dragon race. The battle was fierce and hard-fought since the dragons were beings that commanded the elements to an extreme level, even the hosts were inferior to them even though they were meant to be the representations of those elements” Elsa trembled as she told the story.

“Unfortunately, there were just four of them. With time the four ancient elemental dragons were overwhelmed and defeated. They were too powerful to kill so the old gods and new gods joined hands to gather the power of this world to imprison them. These four dragons were sealed in the central continent and where they were sealed, their residual power gathered to form powerful sealed artifacts that can tremendously boost a person’s power. That is why we are here...” Damon said with a frown.

After hearing the story, Cyrus and Gin were pale with fear, and right now they didn’t know whether to approach or retreat.

“Doesn’t that mean, one of the ancient dragons was sealed here? How the hell are we supposed to go where a demigod resides?” Cyrus panicked.

“Chill. The sealed dragons were put in a state of sleep. We just need to get our hands on the inheritance and leave. There is no need for us to get involved with anything else” Damon shrugged his shoulder while responding.
