Chapter 115: A Pod of Wailord

Chapter 115: A Pod of Wailord

After seeing the four unique Pokémon from Sinnoh region, Rand abandoned fishing altogether, setting down his fishing rod and rushing over to the Pokémon.

Although Reggie's Staraptor and Drapion looked intimidating, they were actually gentle Pokémon. They welcomed Rand's approach warmly, as he greeted them.

While Yuga and Reggie were immersed in their fishing, a melodious call echoed from somewhere. The sound wasn't overly loud, but it resonated across the water's surface like an echoing ripple, drawing several passengers out to investigate.

As everyone searched for the source of the sound, a massive blue Pokémon leaped out of the ocean in the distance, creating a splash as it landed.

The resulting splash resembled blooming flowers on the sea's surface, capturing everyone's attention.

As the water settled, a powerful water spout shot out from the massive Pokémon's blowhole. Yuga then recognized its identity—the Wailord.

Truly living up to the title of the largest Pokémon, the Wailord seemed like a blue island, floating on the water's surface. It was a testament to the creator's artistry.

As more Wailord surfaced, one after another, a breathtaking sight emerged—dozens of them gracing the ocean. Alongside them, Wailmer also emerged, their massive numbers forming a spectacular display on the water's surface.

One Wailord suddenly let out a roar, followed by a towering water spout. As if a switch had been flipped, all the Wailord and Wailmer joined in, creating a harmonious symphony of deep, resonant calls.

Countless water spouts soared into the sky, scattering droplets and mist that refracted colorful rainbows in the sunlight, dazzling the passengers on board.

Although the Wailord and Wailmer were numerous, when they sang in unison, their deep, melodious voices weren't overly loud or jarring. Instead, they exuded a sense of serenity and mystique.

Yuga thought to himself that such a vast assembly, even if submerged in the deep sea, should hold dominion. Being able to witness this spectacle was truly rare.

Even seasoned sailors, accustomed to the sea, might not have witnessed such a grand pod of Wailord.

Wailmer and Wailord were both gentle creatures, often aiding stranded humans at sea. This set them apart from the likes of the "seafaring rogues" Sharpedo and Gyarados.

Once the pod of Wailord had exchanged breath and resurfaced, they gradually dived back into the sea, continuing their journey beneath the waves. The "Wave Breaker" nearby went unnoticed.

Wailord and Wailmer were classic examples of communal Pokémon, but witnessing a gathering of such magnitude was truly uncommon. The fact that their leader was exceptionally powerful likely contributed to their harmonious coexistence in the ocean.

As the pod of Wailord completely disappeared beneath the sea's surface, the ship's passengers sighed with amazement, feeling that their horizons had expanded and their journey was well worth it.

Watching the Wailord depart, Reggie exclaimed, "This world is truly amazing, with so many things we haven't seen waiting for us to explore and discover."

Yuga nodded, "Indeed, it's a world of unrivaled beauty."

"We from Sinnoh can't witness such a massive group of Wailord."

Reggie expressed a touch of regret.

Sinnoh had fewer seas and more mountains, with a relatively cooler climate compared to Hoenn. It was indeed rare to find areas suitable for the habitat of Wailord.

Yuga smiled and said, "But Sinnoh has towering mountains and snow-covered peaks that Hoenn lacks. Aside from certain places, the Hoenn region doesn't have large-scale Ice-type Pokémon either. Each region has its unique characteristics."

"True!"

Listening to Yuga, Reggie happily agreed, his tone revealing pride in his homeland.

Turning to Rand, Reggie continued, "If you ever get the chance to travel to Sinnoh, you'll get to see landscapes and Pokémon that Hoenn lacks. There's the precipitous Mount Coronet, the beautiful and clear Lake Verity, the Eterna Forest teeming with Bug-type and Grass-type Pokémon... I'm sure you'll love it."

Mentioning Sinnoh seemed to open up Reggie's floodgates of speech. He proceeded to share numerous tales and anecdotes about Sinnoh region with Yuga and Rand. He discussed how people used small Swinub to locate hot springs, how they traversed steep snowy mountains while riding on Mamoswine, and the color differences between Shellos and Gastrodon in the Eastern and Western Seas of Mount Coronet.

Reggie was quite knowledgeable about Sinnoh region. His understanding wasn't solely due to his hometown; he had personally explored various places in Sinnoh.

However, a person's home didn't necessarily mean they would understand it deeply. For example, Yuga hailed from Hoenn, but his knowledge of the region was still mostly based on the animations and written descriptions from his previous life. He couldn't truly be considered well-versed in Hoenn.

Reggie's anecdotes captivated both Yuga and Rand, not only broadening their horizons but also deepening their comprehension of this world.

The ship arrived at Goldenroad City's harbor on the fourth evening, a bit quicker than the anticipated five days. Over these three days, Yuga and Reggie got along famously. Reggie's good nature made him an ideal friend to have.

During this time, Yuga also had the chance to meet Reggie's grandfather, a kind and gentle old man. Yuga couldn't help but suspect that Reggie's personality might have been influenced by his grandfather. He wondered how his younger brother, Paul, had developed into the awkward person he eventually became.

Because the four of them shared the same destination, they continued to travel together.
