Edge of the Apocalypse

Chapter 132: Sacrifice

Chapter 132: Sacrifice

"Useless thing!"

Heidrick scolded coldly. The hand that usually held a wine glass or brush was now holding a long whip with barbs all over it. The whip waved Hyderick's arm, creating a dark red trajectory in the air, adding another scar to Robert's body.

Robert took off his coat and chained his hands and collarbones to the wall. This made him unable to move at all, so he could only let Hyderick whip him. Robert's body was already bloodshot, and he didn't know how many times he had fainted. But as long as he was unconscious, a bucket of bone-chilling cold water was enough to wake him up, so he returned to this hell.

Not only were the hooked barbs on the whip covered in blood, they were also stained with meat chips. Every time he came into close contact with Robert's body, the barbs would tear off some of his flesh. Robert was able to grind his teeth and endure at first, but ten minutes later, he kept screaming and begging. As for now, he only wanted to die, and die immediately. Unfortunately, Hyderick did not do as he wished.

After Robert fainted again, Hyderick threw the whip at one of the guards and said, "I want him dead this time tomorrow. Remember, not a minute is missing."

The middle-aged guard nodded ferociously and ordered someone to get the first aid medicine. Since Hyderick wants Robert to die tomorrow, he can't think of dying now. In Hyderick's private warehouse, several drugs stimulate a person's potential for life. Even if he was on the verge of death, he could still drag it out for a day.

Hyderick wiped his palm with a clean handkerchief and a few drops of blood splashed on it. After wiping it clean, he threw the handkerchief on the ground and said to a figure in the shadows, "Follow me. It's time to see your useless big brother."

"Yes, father." The man walked over from the shadows. He had dark green soft hair, soft and delicate features, rimless glasses on his nose, and a faint smile on his face. He was still a teenager, and his entire body emitted a very clean smell, clearly incompatible with this dark cell. During the 45 minutes that Hyderick had tortured Robert, the teenager's gaze landed on him.

This gentle smile remained on his face. Thus, no matter how cordial the smile looked, it was undoubtedly a demonic smile in the eyes of the guard holding the whip.

That was one of Hyderick's sons, Arthur. When he walked past the guards, the guards who had already done a lot of bloody things couldn't help but feel a chill run down their spines. The youth's gaze was like the gaze of a cold-blooded animal.

Kodorf looked at the moving lead cloud in the distance, his mood as gloomy as the dark cloud.

Ever since he came back, Robert has been taken away. Even now, there was no news. Kodorf didn't have time to pay attention to this battle technique instructor. He couldn't even protect himself now. There is no doubt that Hyderick will hold him accountable. Kodorf even wanted to escape, but after seeing a few more rank ten guards outside the door, he gave up on this idea.

Although the guards said that Hyderick had sent more guards to protect him, how could Kodorf not know that this was not protection but surveillance?

Without knocking on the door or giving Kodorf any time to prepare, Hyderick pushed the door open and entered. When Kodorf saw him, he hurriedly bowed to greet him. When he saw a slender and gentle youth standing behind Hyderick, Kodorf almost squeezed out two words from his mouth: "Arthur!"

No one knew better than him that his seemingly gentle brother was more sinister and vicious than anyone else. Kodorf still remembered that one year on his birthday, his brother had given him a poisonous scorpion as a gift, causing him to almost be stung to death by the scorpion. Afterwards, Arthur could still pretend to be innocent, as if it had nothing to do with him.

Hyderick did not say anything since he entered. He walked to the window and looked out with his hands behind his back. Arthur smiled calmly, gently closed the door, and then found a chair to sit on. Like a good student, he put a book of politics and philosophy on his feet, opened the pages with gentle movements, and began to read in his room.

The atmosphere was extremely strange.

Cold sweat broke out on Kodorf's forehead. He didn't know what Hyderick meant. At this moment, he could not understand his father's intentions. Only Arthur's book-flipping voice rang out in the room, rustling in Kodorf's ears. It was clearly just a gentle sound, but it was getting louder and louder in Kodorf's ears. In the end, Kodorf almost roared. He wanted Arthur to close the book that deserved to die.

Hyderick finally said, "It's almost winter."

"Yes, father." Kodorf didn't know how to answer, so he could only randomly reply.

Hyderick did not look back and continued, "In a few months, this year will come to an end. Kodorf, you will be a year older."

"When I was your age, I had already gone to the Outer Realm. I have to say, Kodorf, you've wasted too much time on your family's internal affairs." Hyderick turned around, his gaze as cold as a snowstorm in the cold winter, and swept past Kodorf, "You're careful, careful, these are all your strengths. But do you know what your weaknesses are?"

"Father, please give me some advice?" Kodorf lowered his head and said.

"That's being smart!" Hyderick shook his head and said, "I told you to do it beautifully without leaving any traces behind. But look what you've done. Amazing, Cordoff, you actually found a Level 18 killer to work for you. But in the end, that person died, and Alan is still alive. The problem is, you actually found Blood Hand, and you actually found a killer on the surface!"

Kodorf wiped his cold sweat and trembled. He had no idea where he was wrong.

"Didn't you investigate him before you hired him? This damned Blood Hand hasn't accepted a commission for many years. Do you know what this means?" Hyderick snorted coldly, "This means that his experience, techniques, and even his instincts as an assassin have deteriorated. Even though he still has a level 18 Origin Energy, he is unable to display the advantages he deserves. Forget it, he actually runs a company. Don't you know how big a flaw this will leave for you?"

'"Blood Hand's goal is too obvious, my dear son. It's obvious that Blood Scorpion can pull out all of his old secrets with just a flick of his finger. Then Anna can find Blood Hand's manager and touch him down this line. In the end, I don't need to tell you, right?"

Kodorf immediately raised his head and said, "That woman can't be found. I've already made Blood Hand's agent disappear."

"Disappear?" Heidrick shook his head and sneered, "Why would I have such a stupid son like you?" Just what's the use of making Blood Hand's agent disappear? Blood Hand's goal is too obvious. Do you think someone like him can cover his tracks? Anna doesn't even need to check on Blood Hand's agent. She can find the clues she wants from Blood Hand's recent activities and other relevant details. "

"Also, the matter with your Black Street was not cleanly handled last time. The reason is that Anna has already targeted my private account!"

Kodorf finally couldn't bear the pressure and knelt down, "Father, what should I do?"

"This question should be answered by you." Hyderick lowered his head and looked straight into his son's eyes. "Your grandfather has sent a notice that there will be a council of elders in three days. Do you know what that means, Kodorf?"

'"This means that he probably already has the exact evidence. Damn it, you even dragged me into this! I think I warned you early on not to associate my name with the series of things you've done, right?"

Kodorf suddenly hugged Hyderick's foot and said, "Father, please, please save me. Talk to Grandpa. Look, Ellen is not dead. It's not irreparable."

"You're right, Big Brother Cordoff," Arthur smiled as he closed the book. "Alan isn't dead yet, but you should put our men in an extremely awkward position. Would you please consider the situation for your father as well? Grandpa already has some complaints about us. Now, because of you, my father will draw Grandpa's wrath."

"Shut up!" Kodorf finally couldn't help but roar, "You son of a bitch, how can you interrupt me when I'm talking to my father?"

At the end of his sentence, Hyderick slapped his face. Kodorf flew backwards, crushing a table, and five fingerprints appeared on his face. He covered his face and looked at his father in fear. "Unfortunately, Kodorf, Arthur was right this time. You did drag me down, and even drag down our team. Fortunately, as you said, things are not irreversible. Of course, there is a sacrifice involved." Heidrick sighed.

He walked to Kodorf, crouched down, and whispered in his ear. Then he stood up and winked at Arthur. The father and son left the room just like that. They walked out and had their own guards close the door. '"Father, I am also your son. Why are you so cruel to me?" Kodorf suddenly shouted from the door.

Hyderick smiled and left with his hands behind his back. After walking for a while, he said, "You can see clearly the mistakes that Arthur Cordoff made. I hope you won't repeat them."

"I know, Father."

"Then tell me, what will you do to Alan next?"

"I will try my best to be his friend, brother." Arthur narrowed his eyes and smiled innocently, "The closest kind!"

Hyderick nodded and happily said, "You're much better than Kodorf on this point."

The net was broken last week and the eggs shattered. Fortunately, they were revived.
