DEVIANT

Chapter 95

95 Chapter 95: Side effects of a sealed artifact

“If you were to enter a fight with One sword right now... Would you win?” Alex asked Damian thoughtfully.

Although he didn’t like putting his life in people’s hands, he felt safer with Damian than one sword. At least the Briggs live by a code of conduct. Unless ordered by Wilder, Damian cannot kill Alex, and right now, Wilder has no reason to kill him. But One sword is something else.

If something goes wrong and One sword turns on them with that weapon, they will most likely end up dead. Unless Damian can deal with him, it will be disastrous for them.

“Hmph! The gap between the A ratings and the B rating is not something that can be crossed easily with a sealed artifact... He might be able to take on weaker A-rated deviants... But I definitely won’t lose to him” Damian said disdainfully.

He seemed to understand why Alex was thinking and he felt relief. One of his missions was not just to kill Mr. Blade but to observe Alex. The family wished to know what Alex was like now. They wanted to know how much he has changed.

“You may deny the Briggs but you still think like one... That’s good to know... Now I ask... If by chance I end up losing to him, what happens next... Do you think you can win?” Damian said with a strange look in his eyes.

“It’s impossible for me to win against this person but it is possible for me to escape... I’m quite confident he won’t be able to kill me if I am determined to flee” Alex answered truthfully.

Damian gave him a meaningful look before ignoring him after that.

Peng!

.....

Peng!

Peng!

Numerous holes appeared on the ground as the remaining three Tyrant gang members dashed around recklessly. Their zig-zag movements made it close to impossible for One sword to hit them but even then One sword remained calm.

He acknowledged how flexible and skilled these people are. It is not every day you find fighters more than willing to adapt and changed their fighting styles in battle. He simply felt bad that these people have to die here!

Roar!

The three men screamed in unison as they punched forward ruthlessly!

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

Their fist with the help of their black combat suits released compressed air fits going at One sword!

Peng!

Peng!

Peng!

The air fists seemed to have hit invisible walls stopping in their tracks.

Swoosh!

Without getting the chance to move, the three men were decapitated quickly before they could respond. Just like them Alex and the others were frozen! What they saw was too terrifying for them that explains why the three men couldn’t move before they died.

While it wasn’t clear a probably almost invisible, but everyone saw a vague image of it. They were countless vines wrapped in the room! Even One sword’s limbs seem to be tied tightly by the vines! It looked like a puppeteer controlling a puppet!

Alex and Damian stood on their feet, taking cold breaths. Of course, great power comes at a great price! It was dumb of them to even entertain the thought of owning sacred artifacts!

All this while, One sword he has been fighting with just one vine all these while, probably because he has been to suppress the power of the living tool but now three vines acted on their own even without him giving the order.

“It seems things are about to get rough” Alex said with a serious frown.

The enemies were dead but right now One sword just stood there like a statue. His body was unmoving but his hand welding the sealed artifact kept trembling. He was fighting the monster within the weapon in silence.

Meanwhile, the image of the vines surrounding them with each vine pointed towards their direction like a sword made them feel uncomfortable. It felt like the vines were waiting for his order before striking.

“No one moves... If something happens I will handle it” Damian said with a grim look on his face. He was speaking to the guards with guns in their trembling hands. He was afraid they would shoot without thinking and end up angering the sealed artifact.

“Alex...” Tracy muttered as she held his shirt lightly with the tips of her fingers.

She was already in her white battle suit but after what happened to those five enemies it was obvious the suit can’t protect her from the vines.

Huff!

“Don’t worry... As long as I am here, no one can harm you” Alex said coldly as he took another breath.

His skin was already revealing a shade of red while Damian was already blood red. Not only could he take In more breathes but he also seemed to be able to do it faster! Alex was just in his third breath but Damian has already taken his tenth!

“I guess if things go south... We will be working together... I suggest you don’t hold back... Show me what you can do” Damian said.

“Weren’t you the one who claimed you can win against the enemy? You don’t need my help... My safety and that of my girlfriend are in your hand big brother” Alex sneered.

Arrrgh!

Damian wanted to respond but then the painful cry drew their attention! One sword fell on the ground and his body seemed paler than before! The vines quickly raced towards Alex and the rest, leaving them terrified!

“I take the front! You watch my back!” Damian said before charging forward!

“Understood!” Alex said grimly as he grabbed Tracy by her hand and pulled her behind him!.

With he and Damian facing the opposite directions, the safest place to be was in-between them and that’s where Tracy and the guards stood.

Alex’s eyes turned black as he took his fourth breath while his skin reddened even more. Without hesitation he applied the power of gravity around him, coating his fists with the invisible force!

ROAR!

He and Damian let out inhuman cries as they punched forward without hesitation! Creating shocking explosions with their bare fists!
