A Fallen Knight-Lost art of Necromancy

Chapter 167: Sons-7

Chapter 167: Sons-7

Severus slowly stood up and again went heads on with Maverick but this time he was more strategic. He focused on illuminating his moments so he could take Marquis by surprise. In the process, he was gravely injured.

Bam!

Again, he crashed on the far-away wall.

Tak!

Tak!

Marquis footsteps resounded. He swiftly grabbed Severus hair as he pulled him up and stared at him. He tried intimidating him, but Severus did not budge. No matter how much pain he was in, he still looked him in the eye. Maverick was enraged when he saw the unyielding defiance in Severus eyes. "Die you piece of shit" He roared and was about to smash his face on the wall again when he felt a tingle on his chest.

His moments immediately stopped, and he looked down to see what was happening. His eyes widened when he saw Severus black sword grazing at his core.

So soft as if it was a tickle.

As a beast, he knew that if anything happened to his core then he would die but Severus did not stab it. Unknown emotions surged inside him but before he could understand anything, he was struck by lightning. He was instantly blazed, but nothing happened to Severus. Not even a scratch appeared on his body. Maverick who was struck by lightning was radiating a blue aura and soon that blue aura engulfed Severus and himself. A blue giant ball formed which emitted electricity. No one was able to even touch the ball while Severus and Maverick were levitating in there in their unconscious state.

Everything happened so suddenly that Marquis was shocked. It felt like things were slipping from his hand, so he tried intervening, but someone blocked him.

"Going somewhere dear disciple?" Green shouted at Marquis.

Marquis gritted his teeth when he saw Gren blocking him.

"Knock it off, old man. I neither have patience nor energy to spare on you so just get lost."

"Oh really?"

"Too bad because I have all the time and energy to spend on you so I can't let you go. It has been so long since we last met. Why don't we chat and have some fun?" Gren asked as a doting master.

Marquis was angry. It felt like his old master was not going to let him go without a fight but fighting against would prove tedious and time-consuming for him. Then on the other hand he needs to catch that free will and had to oversee Maverick. Problems came from all directions and Marquis started crumbling little by little.

"Guards" He shouted on top of his lungs.

A small group of soldiers entered inside the hall since earlier incidents have killed as well as traumatized several soldiers. Only a handful remained who had strong hearts.

As they entered, they bowed "Yes your majesty."

"Go and catch those two girls who earlier fled from here. One is this man's disciple and the other is Selena, Melanie's sister." He roared.

As he did, all the soldiers immediately wore wheels on their heels. An immediate search plan was made, and they left for catching the preparators.

"Now I only need to deal with you. You damn master" Marquis stared at the old man as he said this.

And eventually, a battle between disciple and master began .

--------------

Smoke.

Smoke...

"Where am I? It's so foggy here?" A man with white robes was wandering on a foggy land.

"Are you lost?" A man wearing a black outfit that was an exact replica of the cloth that the other was wearing just there was a slight difference between their colors. The man wearing the black robe asked the other boy.

The other boy who was lost and scared immediately got threatened by his presence, so he started shivering in fear.

The man in white robes noticed it and he was heartbroken.

"Hey don't be scared. I am Severus. What is your name?"

The black robe man had a peaceful smile on his face. His easy-going nature made Maverick drop his guard against him.

"My.name is Maverick" He said fearfully.

"Ye, maverick. What a nice name" He was thrilled.

"Really?" Maverick asked in doubt.

"Of course, it is. It sounds so noble and royal."

Maverick blushed when he was complimented by Severus. "Actually, I am a royalty but I don't know where I am but I do think that I have seen you somewhere, but I really can't think where" The man supported his head on his hand. He suddenly started having a severe headache. Soon Servers too had a severe headache. Both sat there for eternity with a throbbing head. No one knew when but soon the pain vanished and all that was left was several emotions and memories revolving in their mind. As they both were engrossed to understand what was happening, a sound from above thundered in their ears.

[Hello sons!

No need to know who I am because I do not have an existence but at the same time I exist. I exist in everything, but I do not exist anywhere. You can call me anything, but I prefer you to address me as heavens will. I am here to give both of you a chance to either survive or die. This is a trial that will decide your future so I would request you to think before you are taking any action. If you want to fight, then it should be fair so here are two swords. You both can pick it up and continue your fighting and decide among yourself who wins and if you submit yourself to heaven's wills then you will be judged according to heaven's law and the jury will be the central council. Here you go...."

Two swords dropped from the sky, the instant voice faded. It landed accurately near our feet.

For a moment no one picked it up as they both continued to stare at each other.

Time passed but for a long time, no one picked the sword. Finally, Maverick couldn't endure it any longer, so he picked up the sword and marched up straight to kill Severus however Severus neither picked his sword nor tried dodging off the attack. He silently stared at Maverick, waiting for his attack. No fear was present in his eyes. It was as if he did not fear death. Maybe the saying was true, a person who was tested by time always stood victorious. Severus too stood victorious in front of Maverick because Maverick stopped his attack when his sword was just one centimeter away from his heart. Maverick did not know why his hands stopped. It was an automatic reaction to his body. As he did, tears continuously were streaming on his face.

THUD!

Maverick dropped on his knees as the sword slipped from his hand. For the first time in his life, Maverick was subdued by his emotions. He screamed on top of his lungs and sometimes later he sobbed. It was heart-wrenching for Severus to see him cry. Earlier when Melanie died, then also he didn't cry or showed any emotions. At that time Severus doubted whether Maverick was a human or not but now he could say that Maverick was a human through and through. He was a man who used to stay put under any condition. No matter how many grievances he faced he never complained. No one was aware of how lonely he felt. How sad he was. Everyone always thought of him as a privileged child who had the world revolving on his fingers but that wasn't true. Not even in the slightest.

"Why? Why is it me? Why am I the cursed one? Why am I the frail one? Why am I the one who failed to win the love of her? Why am I the one who failed to protect his wife? Why am I the one who needs to kill you? Why am I the only one who suffers this all?" Maverick questioned harshly looking at the sky as if questioning heaven but he got no response.

Severus saw how pathetic Maverick looked. He had a lot to say to him, but he didn't offer his condolences. "Why are you complaining? Or is it that you want me to suffer what you have suffered till today? Is it what you are after?"

Severus demanded answers and when he did, Maverick who was earlier crying was stunned on the spot. It never crossed his mind that Severus would take it this way. He was just going to refuse but Severus beat him up.

"Don't deny now. I very well understand what you said and what was the meaning behind them. Since childhood, I was with you like your shadow. You could say that I know you better than you yourself knows. When you were a child, you were an extremely scared child. You feared almost everything, not to mention your health. You used to faint even when you accidentally saw shadows of curtains at night. Everyone treated you nicely whereas I was treated as some kind of pest, but you were different. You treated me well as if I were your friend and in exchange for your friendship and goodwill, I EXCHANGED my life. I vowed to always protect you from your fears, and I fulfilled it until my death."
